& I doubt Nvidia sold many titans infact I doubt they sell many at all..compared to Ti cards

but heres the magic.. how do we get the masses to buy a 700$ gpu ..lets make it faster out the box and downplay the titan in the slides..

That's a good point. The Ti is basically still a cut down locked chip like the XP. They just gave it higher clocks out of the box and a Gig less of Vram to make it look better in the slides. People thought they were getting Nvidia's flagship for $700 making sales go through the roof. In reality they were just getting a higher clocked gimped XP. Now Nvidia can release the full Pascal chip and sell it again for $1200. Hahaha messed up but clever on their part. I'm glad I waited for Xp and didn't settle for 1080/1080tI/XP.

Do you honestly think Ti owners feel they got played because Nvidia just released a full GP102 Titan replacement, that will be 3-7% faster, for $500 more?

I think anyone who paid $1200 for a cut down gpu got played... haha

Nvidia should have at least named this new Titan X the Titan X Black. That would have so much better than Titan Xp.

who really got played? the Titan buyers or the Ti buyers? i'd say the Ti owners got played harder than the Titan owners imho! wink.gif

That doesn't make sense for few reasons:

1. Ti buyers are not TITAN buyers period. Those people know TITAN is only e-peen and has no performance to money value. They wait for Ti to get best performance for best price. They woul buy original TITAN XP otherwise. That is logical.
2. Ti is still top card in terms what you get for how much. I mean 700 bucks for top performance vs 1200 bucks for 7-10% better than that performance? Lol, none Ti owner would pay for it because again- they are not TITAN target.
3. For 1400 bucks you can have 1080Ti SLI, beating crap out of TITAN Xp. That is 200 bucks more only for totally better performance. Again - Ti is best performance per value.
4. TITAN Xp is to milk TITAN XP owners who will sell their XP to buy Xp to again be at top - to have the longest. Because they were hit by Ti release the most (their pride and ego I mean) and now NVIDIA gave them option to again be on top, have the longest for another 1200 bucks. And you know what they will do? They will buy it! Because you don't buy TITAN for performance if you can have 8% less for 500 bucks less. You buy it for ego, that e-peen factor- I have the best. People won't take proud in that, but belive me, many TITAN XP owners already ordered Xp probably without even selling TITAN XPs yet.
NVIDIA knows it and milks rich people that will PAY ANY PRICE just to know they have the best, even by 5%. LUXURY product.

I have nothing against TITAN Xp. Rich people may buy whatever they want. I wish I could consider 1200$ a small amount. Really.
Their money, their business. But NVIDIA is just playing on their ego, just on ego.

Anyone with cool, logic head (even rich) would buy TI, having 7 less fps in games and invest those extra 500 bucks in wallet in custom water loop, or good sound card and good mouse/keyboard on top of that. Or ivest in SSD etc.

TITAN is like Lamborgini, Aston Martin etc. Nobody buy it for ergonomic reasons, for performance, comfort, materials, gas waste, build quality etc. You'd buy Audi, Mercesdes, Volvo etc. for that.

You buy it for peen, cause you can and others can't. Simple as that.

You have to really twist your mind to fool yourself into thinking the Titan Xp is better value than the 1080ti! I'm saying that as a potential Titan Xp buyer. For me it it all depends on what the benchmarks show for both cards under water. I plan on just buying one card this time around so if the Titan Xp yields even 10% better performance, that may justify the price for me, otherwise I'm getting an Aorux extreme!

EDIT: just realized this is my 6,666th post, something evil going on here!

I always laugh when people bring in SLI into the argument. SLI today is a mess. In fact it was better 3-5 years ago. Considering we're moving forward in tech every year that kind of gives you a hint where multi-gpu usage is going. This is coming from someone whose last 4 upgrades were SLI. 7970's / 690/ 780Ti's/ 980Ti's. Although there are some who will be forced to run SLI Xp's due to running insane resolutions most are buying Xp for single gpu usage. And for that I'll pay the $500 dollar premium all day for 8-10% gains for the next 8-12 months.

If its only one card and you can afford it there's no question. Get the Xp and throw it on water.

Mate, you are the target that NVIDIA milk, because you target points in my post that was purely to say that there is no value in TITAN XP. You say:

"And for that I'll pay the $500 dollar premium all day for 8-10% gains for the next 8-12 months"

And we have nothing else to discuss. You are rich. Buy what you want. You just pay 500 bucks for 8% better performance. You are the target of Xp. You want the longest, even if that size makes really almost no difference. And I am ok with that. Good for you that you can have it. I will have 8% less gains then you in next 8-12 months. I am ok with that. Your 66 fps in 4K will be better than mine 62 fps in 4K. Good (I don't play 4K, just saying).

But anyone with any level of intelligence (even Xp owner) can admit the fact that Xp is poor value for its performance. It's meant to be of course.

SLI was a mere example of having 2 cards with 8% less performacne for almost same price as one overpriced. This an example of value, not whenever SLI is good or not.

Also- If I were rich enough to buy myself TITAN Xp (like 1200 is nothing for me) I would either way buy two 1080Ti SLI and give one to my wife or son. Much better investment.

I am not arguing about perfomance. Only saying that there is no value in TITAN Xp apart from e-peen factor. That is all.
