Alot of it is driven by the professional use cases and these have tons of vram. My only problem with this Titan release (besides the name... should have been Titan X Black and they should have changed the housing to no 'Geforce' Led and put 'Titan X' there in blacklight Leds, but i digress) is that it didnt double the vram over 1080ti like tradition dictates. I have been expecting this release, but I figured It'd be full core with 24 gb of gddr5x or 16gb of hbm2. The resell value would be guaranteed in that scenario to be very very high again. But so many nubz also buy Titans that it'll resell good again anyway, but you get my point.

Yep...I gotcha. Nvidia actually managed to succeed with the 'Titan' name as it alone is enough to add tremendous resell value to these cards. It's crazy.

Agree with the resale, second hand isn't the cheap it used to be, especially with these cards in the UK but at near twice the price, doesn't that make 75-85% resale, almost equitable depreciation to 60% on a TI.

For those of us that swap GPUs often, especially from highest-end to highest-end, 85% resale on a halo card is pretty insane.

I keep telling myself that the day a single card is available that can drive 99.9% of all games available at 3440x1440p @ 100hz that I'll stop buying the most powerful card...but then I realize by the time that does happen a 4K @ 100hz monitor will come out and i'll want as little compromise as possible driving that, so the cycle will begin anew.... tongue.gif

I am LOVING it. I am able to hold 2050 @ 62c on air ( i did do thermal grizz paste) for hours on BF1 and mostly net 144 locked, dips to 130 fps.

oh, yeah, it's a helluva powerful BRAND name.

In the final analysis, yes. When all the numbers come out it is basically the same, adding strength to the Titan path if one can afford to have thousands "floating" like that. But you will get them back. Personally, it's easier if I am only floating the $700 in my financial situation (single dad, 3 teens :/). But, yeah, it's the same.

Spend $1200, get $900 back. Loss= 25% or $300.
Spend $700, get $350 back. Loss =50% or $300.

Both paths are great.

One gets to have the best and the other gets basically the same thing but can actually get the credit card to not decline.

And still others don't even know the new Titan Xp is out yet LMAO.

Yeah this is true I guess. I'd assume the warranty is the same on these as the 1080/Ti? Essentially non-transferable? I never knew that they commanded such a nice resale.

Edit: If purchased from nVidia direct that is.

Correct, warranty is non-transferable on these cards as Titan cards (after Maxwell it seems) are only sold by Nvidia. That has not deterred people from buying Titan cards second-hand at all though.

uggh, that is true. I guess folks just dont know that some do transfer, or dont really care b/c it's for work or something. Or the whole gpu/epeen addiction mixed w/ 1200 is just cost prohibitive.

These cards do seem to have a bit more overclocking room, no? I think with the premium price the certainly should.

I noticed the upper thermal limit is 94c versus the Ti's 91c.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Titan X (Pascal) but was perfectly happy with my 1080. I might have bitten if this card had a bit more ram, however, I would likely never use it (epeen reasons lol).

I have a 3570k that runs at 4.3Ghz all day long which is nice, however, I think I would be better off spending money towards an updated processor versus spending the premium for a Titan over the Ti that I already have. Both would be nice, however, I wouldn't ever use it all...

Made it way easy to return the Tis once the Xp was released. thumb.gif

The card I miss the most though is my GTX 690...such a sweet design and I would love to see Nvidia release another dual-GPU single-card product.

CRAZY to think that this beast only put out 37 gigapixel fillrate. The Titan Xp puts out over 150!

The headroom comes from (i think) the fact that these have to be basically perfect to have all SMs ROPs unlocked, so most are from the very center (heart) of the die, and thos always have the most OC headroom. These are basically perfect samples of the gp102. Pre-binned if you will.
