I know its insane idea but can someone crossflash Xp bios to titan x pascal!? Can this way unlock cores or something?
Is it possible anyway?

I am not saying it is not possible, and have not seen anyone trying it. My first thought on the subject would be that if it was possible, people here would not be paying to upgrade, and going through the hassle that comes with selling old GPU's. I would think Nvidia alone would make sure this was not possible, and take action to make it so. Just my thoughts on the matter, but maybe someone with the new card can answer a little better.

AMD has pretty much ALWAYS had lower IPC than Nvidia (for the past half dozen generations at least) If you take a look at equivalent tiers of cards from Nvidia and AMD you'll see that in order for an AMD card to be as powerful as an Nvidia card it has to have on average around 75% more cores than the nvidia card. (For example, an RX 480 has 2,304 cores and is only about as fast as the 6GB GTX 1060 which has 1,280 cores. An 80% difference.)

This is the issue here, 4,096 stream processors, even with a generational jump similar to what we saw from Hawaii's IPC to Polaris IPC etc.., is in NO way gonna equal 3,840 pascal cores running at ~500-800mhz higher clock speed. Even the older TITAN X pascal with 3,584 cores will still be a far more powerful setup most likely. The benchmarks and leaked info we have for Vega so far indicate it to likely be around the power of a GTX 1080 or so. Which makes sense because 4,096 cores (on Vega) is exactly 60% more than the 2,560 cores on the GTX 1080; so if we assume a ~15-20% generational IPC increase over Polaris (and adjust for it) then we're back at the same ~75-80% difference i mentioned earlier.

If we somehow manage to get a Vega chip with ~5,734 stream processor cores then we'd be talking TITAN X Pascal levels ( or roughly ~6,144 to match this new TITAN Xp). I suppose if HBM2 actually provides a REAL performance benefit this time, actually beating 11,400mhz GDDR5X (which seems very unlikely given that Nvidia and Micron have both said that they specifically invested in G5X over HBM2 due to matured G5X actually performing almost identical for lower cost) then perhaps we could get that 60% difference down to ~50-55%. But even with 50% we'd still need a Vega chip with a massive ~5,376 stream processor cores to match a 2016 TITAN X Pascal.
except the 7970... best card of that generation, nvidia had to catch up at that point.

I did this yesterday, the slider unlocks but the voltage did not change on my card? thinking.gif

Yea IDK how they can show pic without then have it on. Even in the render it shows screw holes by power connector that it doesn't actually have.
Its looks exactly like the old XP why not just use the same render.

Honestly looks so much better without cheesy logo that clashes but im throwing on hybrid so what ever.

Could someone upload the BIOS of the new Titan Xp?

Thx

I will ask him also.

At this moment I use iGPU (Iris Pro 6200) and in next period I need to buy dedicated GPU and I'm aiming for top one. Plan was to go with custom 1080 TI (would aim for best performance / temp./ noise levels), but now Titan Xp comes out. Regardless of price, I would aim for best if I can, but only concern with Titan Xp now is custom / better cooling, as it only comes with Nvidia cooler.

I would like to find best air cooling for it. Noise is also important for me. For now I only heard of Arctic Accelero Extreme IV as very good cooler. If there is more info about it, or any other custom cooler for this card, please let me know.

you can just unplug the LED header on the card to shut them off.

erm... show a snip of the voltage doing anything when you move the slider. Unlocking the slider is trivial (has been for years)... but affecting the actual voltage is another thing. NVFlash and GPUz cannot read the vBios yet.
IDK - maybe I'm doing something wrong or my card is off the reservation redface.gif
