.005 and .0001 = 0.000098, Much lower than the shunt

.005 and the nickel .007 = about 1/2 the shunt value, 0.002916

i agree. There's a dude in the 1080ti thread with a card that runs and holds 2176. That in theory ties a Titan Xp that can't hit and hold 2000Mhz. But that is an extreme statistical outlier. In ref to his question, though, if you even have to ask the question, you're better off with a 108oTi Aorus or Asus. and whether you are on 4k/60, 1440p/144, or wqhd 100, or 1080p/165... all of them are pretty much maxed on a 1080ti, and the thing that aren't won't get there just by having 1 Titan. This is like a BMW, it gets you to work the same as Cadillac, it just does it sexier.

we know from the TXP that you do not want to bypass the power control hardware completely. the card defaults to P8 state.

The same can't be said about your typical Geforce x80 Ti card. So, even though it cost more, you will recoup a higher percentage of that money than you would with a non-titan card. With the Xp being the final version and NV releasing mac support for Pascal Titan cards, I'm sure it will keep a good bit of its value whenever Titan XV releases. That's one of the primary reasons why I purchased the Xp over waiting for a Hybrid 1080Ti.
That's true. Usually it holds so well (lots of reasons) mostly because of all the extra vram it has vs everything else, but the Ti has that this time, too. I think that will help 1080ti resell value a bit more than in the past. It could hurt Titan's resell value a bit, but, as you mentioned, the whole "Apple" angle probably hedges that quite a bit.

So I finally got ahold of some kryonaut.

Dropped my idle temps on GPU by 5c and loads by 3c thumb.gif

also dropped my idle temps on my CPU by 7c and loads by another 5c

went for as thin a layer as possible on my CPU and a barely thicker layer on my GPU.

Overall, worth it! thumb.gif

it really depends on how many of the resistors you shunt and by how much... De8auer figured this out for the TXP using an ohm meter, eventually soldering specific resistors on top of the OEM set. I don;t have the link handy. Sorry.
Basically once you know the target it's straight forward with an OHM meter and the glue, pen or what ever method you choose. I'd look to 0.0025 staged thru the resistor count (eg do one first then 2... etc). It is a bit Edisonian when you have a voltage cap. (eg, AFAIK, you hit the VL or "safe mode P8" at some point without further mods.
I did'nt run a shunt mod for long (like 4 hours). I think marc0053 had his TXP running this way for a long time. I just hope no one kills their card... there's at least one every gen TX released. worriedsmiley.gif
