Are voltage controllers for fans bad, and PWM controlled fans better? - Page 2

Could you give me a link to a 'switch mode converters' please?

Here in UK / EU the aquaero 5 LT is like £50 / 60 EUR and aquaero 6 LT is £68 / 100 EUR Take the 20% VAT of and it's $56 and $83
That is 1x PWM & 4x voltage controlled channels on aquaero 5 and 2x PWM & 4x variable voltage in aquaero 6.

I was talking about these:

The two smaller ones handle up to about 2A passive, the bigger one is rated at 3A.

They're also far more modern in design (and more efficient) to the bigger chunky one.

All one needs to do really is find which range on the adj trimpot nets the desired voltage, then wire a fixed resistor and a pot to a front panel and you're set.

Or hell, just wire the pot straight to a panel. They're only buck converters so at worst what'll happen is that you'll have too little voltage to the fan and it won't spin and you need to turn it higher.
