Tired of mice losing their coating? Do you suffer from sweaty Hands? The solution - Skateboard or tennis griptape!

A huge sheet of griptape for a skateboard is like $4-10 and should last you forever and comes in a large variety of designs and colours.

Simply cut the pieces to size and clean the mouse thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or a damp soapy rag to remove any skin cells sweat sweat/oil that could interfere with the adhesive, remove the sheet protecting the adhesive from your pre cut pieces and carefully place them in desired areas.

Depending on what you prefer there is a large selection of Tennis griptape, personally I would go for the thinnest tennis griptape possible as I would like to interfere as little as possible with the shape of the mouse and the feel of clicks.

Griptape can be bought online or at any sporting goods store in pretty much any country worldwide as skateboarding and racket sports are popular everywhere.

Hope this helps!

If you used skateboard griptape your hand would propably lose its coating

That depends on how coarse it is, if the one you buy happens to be too coarse simply take a rock and grind it to your preferred smoothness.

I was thinking of using the thicker tennis griptape for the side of the mouse and the rear hump, and skateboard griptape for M1 and M2.

I will update this post when stuff arrives by mail.

I've used this stuff in the past to help with hard to grip mice with good results https://www.amazon.com/GT-5000-strips-phones-cameras-knives/dp/B00ATH0KEA

probably easier on your hands than skate griptape and less likely to leave residue than tennis tape

If you want skateboard tape like grip that will never wear off, never peel off, and will last longer than your mouse everwill?... There is something we do in the gun community that goes beyond stickytape or stippling with a soldering iron.... Scuff the areas you want texture on your mouse (warning this coating will not flex). Get gun bedding epoxy such as Acryglass or Steelbed and spread it in a thin layer where you scuffed (I recomend masking off for cleaner lines). While the Acyglass or Steelbed is still wet either dip or cover it in Silicon Carbide grit. Peel off masking tape before it hardens and let it cure..... Guarantee you wear a hole in your hand or mousepad before you wear the Silicon Carbide off.... For more info Google Silicon Carbide Pistol Grip...

Got my skate grip in the mail today, the grip is exactly like I expected it makes it possible for me and my large sweaty hands to finally be able to palm grip my FK1 for hours on end!

Here is a pic of the result, not quite as neat as I wanted, but it is more than serviceable.

Conclusion:

Would I recommend this method for others suffering from the same issue that I had?

The answer to that would be without a doubt yes, it is cheap and easy to do and the large sheet you get will allow you to do many mistakes, or perhaps replace the grip in the future. Also this isn't a permanent mod, if you don't like the result you can simple remove the griptape and clean off any residue that might be left.

Checked out a DIY Silicon Carbide Pistol Grip tutorial and that is definitely something I will be trying in the future! I have a Naos 7000 which has a dead scroll wheel that I intend to do the experiment on.

Try double sided tape with sandpaper

That is pretty much exactly what skateboard griptape is, just a lot less hassle.

It takes some time to do cleanly but it will last and look better than skateboard tape. Not to mention you can select your grit how coarse you want it.
