What is the heatsink metal composition of the Founder's Edition Cards?

Thread Starter
Does anyone know the composition of the metals in the founder's edition heatsink in the 1080/1080Ti/Titan X(p)?

I know that the 1080 and 1070 have different heatsinks:

1080 at the top and 1070 at the bottom. I think it's nickel plated copper, but I'm not sure.

Basically, I want to change the thermal paste of my card to liquid metal (which I know is incompatible with aluminium given that all liquid metal pastes are made of a gallium alloy). I know it's marginal, but I currently run a SFF PC so any temp. gain is valuable to me.

If the base is made of nickel plated copper then I will proceed to try it out (even if it's marginal), and insulate the resistors around the GPU with Kapton tape.

Thanks.

the 1080 has a big vapor-chamber
as you can deduct from the sealed tube in the down-left corner

usually vapor-chamber are copper, in this case plated copper

to be 100% sure: just scratch a bit the contact surface
(maybe avoid the area corresponding to the GPU thumb.gif )
