R5 1600 vs R5 1600x

Thread Starter
So,

i got:
Gigabyte x370 Gaming K7
G.Skill Flare X 3200
MSI 750ti
Monitor: 1680:1050

and what cpu to pair with this?

I usually do some programming and casual gaming(CS:GO, Witcher 3, Civ series, PES 2017) on my home pc,
once my bank account gets better i hope to go to fullHD or 1440p monitor with vega i hope...in year or so smile.gif

Since a already spent pretty money for MBO and RAM now i'm in doubt between R5 1600 and R1600x
If i go with R1600x i would need to get some cooler and that means Noctua for me and that is at least +60 eur to cpu price.

Non R1600 comes with decent stock cooler that does it job and can be used for reasonable overclocking...

Im really in doubt and i'm impatient to wait for review smile.gif

There is no reason to get 1600X over 1600.

Yup, r5 1600x + Noctua cooler come close to price of r7 1700.

But still x1600x base clock speed on is higher

It's not worth it unless you want to donate $30 + CPU cooler money to AMD. The Ryzen 5 1600 is the same darn thing as a Ryzen 5 1600X in most cases provided you overclock it. If the binning gets more stringent , or newer revisions of Ryzen CPUs with XFR actually push more than 4.0 or 4.1Ghz, then that may change.

Pretty much. X CPUs are there to support AMD. If you are on budget get non-X.

I decided to go with r5 1600 as it will suit my current needs and i wont need to buy aftermarket cooler.

Thanks for the arguments.

Really the only CPU anyone should buy is 1600 and 1700.

Is there any body that has both or at least one, like 1600x for instance.
Those were the same stories I was getting about FX 6300 and 6350 as well as 8300 and 8350 and they were not true at all. I had one of each and higher number one always beat lower one, be it at stock speed or OCed. 6350 for instance would consistently OC better than 6300 at lower voltage. Even when 6300 is OCed to same frequency as 6350, 6350 would work better and more stable with less heat. Same goes for 83xx.
They are all made on same die and are essentially same but ones with higher number are binned higher because they did perform better when tested and that means they are made better, that mans the manufacturing process succeeded better.
