So for existing owners of RX480 cards, this is somewhere around $300ish for what amounts to basically a new sticker, a cool box with the number 5 on it and some 'internet influencers' that seem really jacked about this product?

Probably. But refined tech, like Kaby Lake over Sky Lake. Easier to hit 5ghz with less power.
Two fold, the bios can be flashed and run, but require more power. Just wait. If you have a 480 no reason to upgrade to anything short of a vega or 590 or whatever Raja wants to call it.

I wonder if Raja is disappointed with these rebrands? Surely more effort could have been put instead of just a 5% OC and much higher price?
