Common Desktop Environment (CDE) on Linux

Thread Starter

I've always liked the look and feel of CDE especially the SGI IRIX version and I'm interested in getting it installed on Fedora 25 if possible. I've done some googling and as best I can tell, CDE has been ported to Linux but is incomplete or janky on some distros, but not really sure since the info I found seemed to be a bit outdated (Fedora 17/18, etc.)

Does anyone else here use CDE on a current distro? Is it suitable for everyday use? If so and there's some kind of noob-friendly guide out there to setting it up that I've overlooked I'd appreciate any info/tips. Xfce with the Mofit theme just isn't the same whistle.gif

The arch wiki says CDE is not OK for everyday use due to security problems.
