Went to Micro center to upgrade FX-6130 to FX-8350. Walk out with entire new computer build lol.

So long story short. I have a build log on here of a pretty awesome system, but after a while I was not playing much any more and was in between jobs so I decided to sell it.

I still had my store bought hp h8 that had 10gb ram, FX-6130 and a basic GPU I had upgraded about a year or two ago to a radeon r270x 4GB and the PSU to a corsair 750 watt.

So I have been able to do some decent gaming and acceptable fps USUALLY. but Lately I was playing the new Battlegrounds and was getting around 20-30 fps max, at ultra, and even lower. clearly the CPU was not up to par. (noticed later the min req is for 6300 cpu or better lol.) SO I decided to buy the fx-8350 since the hp OEM mobo would support up to 125watt TDP and was the same am3+ socket.

I had toyed with that idea a few times over the last year but just never really did bother.

SO I decided to go on a whim to the 45 min drive to micro center for the cpu.

Well as the last time went, I was him hawing about the upgrade, or if I should upgrade into intel. (keep in mind this case is a "left hand one" as in the mobo is technically a mirroed image as is the case and how it all mounts, meaning the computers on the opposite side when you are opening it up. putting in a new mobo would not work becasue of how the IO panel would mount.

I had an old case but figured I wouldn't know where some of the hardware was so I ended up buying a new case, along with basically everything for a new PC except GPU and PSU, since I had those at home, of course when they get the new ROG STRIX 1080ti in I will be going back for that. lol.

List of the items I got:

(Windows 10 since the new HD and all the new equip prob would not boot well with the old Raid array not to mention that was windows 8 that upgraded to 10)

I'm guessing the $100 instant rebate on the Mobo/CPU combo got you. biggrin.gif Luckily, I can't step foot into Microcenter for another 2 weeks since I'm working 84hrs/week right now and too busy to make it, but I have a Microcenter gift card still burning a hole in my pocket from Christmas, lol. I've been patiently waiting for mini-ITX AM4 boards to hit the shelves.

The guy recommended that tbh saying something about the board having issues or something so they have been recomending that?

whats should I get? It has been since 2013 since I have even remotely looked at specs and new HW so I am a tad out of the loop. hell i was astounded at the PCIe SSD I got, last I saw a while back the first one on the market was some wicked expensive intel one. that looked like it was in a small stainless steel box lol. that is also what got me haha.

(They did bit they also had all this too haah)

I'd return the RAM while you can for a set of DDR4-3200MHz CL14 or DDR4 3600MHz as those run better with Ryzen.

On the QVL is the Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3600C18

Hey field sorry for leaving you in the dark like that, but i was saying that the higher the frequency would give you a better gain. Ryzen chips tend to do better with higher frequency - I thinkt he GSKILL Flares does well? but make sure that its QVL approved for your rboard

Nice kit.
With 1700X processor the default memory setting in BIOS is 2133 (what you have). Official AMD support is up to 2400 MHz. Unofficially the motherboard allows you to set the memory up to 3200 MHz, but ability to reach that speed depends both on the processor and the memory.
Your motherboard most likely came with BIOS 0502. You may look on asus website to get the latest BIOS version 0515. The 0604 version just released may limit the memory speed according to those who just tried it, so I would stick with either 0502 or 0515 for now.
Either BIOS will let you set the memory speed. Try to do it manually if DHCP profile does not work. With 1700X I was able to reach 2400 MHz memory with some memory kits, up to 2933 with others. I saw reports of up to 3400MHz (on a different motherboard with the very fastest memory you could buy, reported by AMD themselves).
The Asus Prime X370-Pro motherboard will also allow a proper roof mount of the H60 cooler radiator in the Corsair SPEC-02 case. It's good that you didn't get the Crosshair VI motherboard because it has so much plastic it doesn't let the H60 radiator fit on the roof of this case.

I do have the latest 515 bios. i never have tried messing with ram, and its been too long since i was messing with my other build (in my build log lol)

have to get caught up on the overclocking things lol. Ram to me was always a little complicated for overclocking/ cpu>cooling up, freq up lol (maybe some voltage) and that was about it lmao.
