Nice find thumb.gif. Perhaps browse ebay for something with better OC capability. Or even brand new AM3+ boards, since they will work with that chip. Look at this link to help you find out which motherboards have good VRMs.

I'm rocking the 990FX and I'm still attempting to OC mine.

I'm still new to this game so some of the settings are foreign to me in my BIOS. I wish I had a way to let you guys do it for me biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

That should be fine, most 990FX boards can handle a good OC.

I found an ASUS board, the
Asus M4A89GTD PRO 890FX.
It has "Support for 140w CPUs" printed on the board.
Think this thing will OC good?

It says it has a 8+2 power phase and the VRm are under a large heatsink.

Yes, that's a good one.

I decided to go with a ASUS 970 Pro Aura? I think it was, to have newer support, plus it was just $99. I believe it has a 7+1 power phase.
Anyways, using this horrid board I have now, upon VRM failure, it's unlikely to kill the chip, just the board, right? Or is it gonna take everything out? (I bought new everything but the CPU)
I ask because I wanna OC it and see how long it'll take to die.

You made a good choice. The 7+1 power phase is top notch according to The Stilt.
