ASUS p8p67 Deluxe . No qcode, cpu led red

Hi guys,

I recently bought a second hand ASUS p8p67 Deluxe.

It was working when i bought it, but i was having problems from the start (error 55=RAM).

Which seem to came from using a watercooling bracket/overtightening the cooler.

I managed to get rid of the error, but it came back after a while (i tried tigthening the cooler to the max before it gives an error etc) , then while troubleshooting it again, i noticed it would boot with 1 ram, but not with 2.

I continued to reboot/ reseat the rams, but suddenly it wouldn't even give a qcode any longer, and the cpu led stays red.

The socket pins seems fine, even though 2 are a bit lower aligned then the others, but this wasen't an issue when i first used it.

So now when i power the mb, all fans spin and leds are on, the memory (issue) led which used to be on with code 55 is no longer on, for the rest no qcode nothing. Sometimes it turns off after 2 seconds, but mostly it just stays on with all the fans turning.

Tried 1 ram stick in all slots, same issue
The cpu works in another motherboard, tried with different psu = same issue
Tried clear cmos button, also removed battery for a night = same issue.
Tried power board without cpu 12v connectors = same issue.

Is my mb dead?

Thanks

(ps: i must add that one of the 4r7 capacitor of the motherboard broke half off with getting the motherboard out of the case, but the board worked fine with only half of the coil still connected after this happend.)

Time to give the mobo a descent send off into the night. So long, you never served me well.

I was afraid so.

And saying that my cheap asrock p67 pro 3 se from 2011 still works well!

This 2600k has 5.3 ghz + potential. and with my asrock it can barely do 4.5 ghz.

It's not worth the price to get a new board, but i feel the oc urge!
I guess i should get a different board , if i get the asus again i will probably have the same issue.
