Yeah... But all it takes is some paper work with board approval and it can become part of Tesla... like Solar City.

Its actually better to keep both SpaceX and Tesla separate. Once a buyout is initiated, the parent company assumes any debts the company being bought once had. Tesla doesn't need the extra burden. And as SpaceX can turn a profit on its own...there's no point.

At the end of the day I still personally have zero interest in EV's or Tesla's myself. There's no satisfactory replacement for the ICE in my opinion and these cars are basically just a response to a nonexistent "crisis" which all have major deficiencies to that end (current battery technology and electric power generation methods/capacity). Range, longevity, lack of infrastructure, cost of development (both in monetary and environmental ways), etc. Sure the Tesla's are very neat tech and very fast, but they are still limited in many respects and do not meet the needs of most American drivers outside of large urban areas and in very niche markets.

Ignoring the cost of the average EV vehicle, everything else about what you said is statistically incorrect.

The range of an EV these days is about 10x the average distance driven by a person in a day. With the range is only going up with each new generation.

The "nonexistent crisis" you speak of very much exists and the science community as a whole agrees upon that. There are plenty of people in the South Pacific that have watched their islands sink over the last 50 years if you don't believe the science community.

It is also a very, very, incredibly ancient, statement to say that the environmental impacts of generating the technology is anywhere near as devastating as the impact producing conventional technologies. Even when you ignore that the environmental impact of the facilities that produce these green technologies is less than or equal too conventional factories, you still end up with an incredible net savings in damage to the environment after the production process.

If an ICE vehicle and an EV vehicle have the same environmental impact to product and put in the consumer hand, the EV for all intent stops producing the most damaging of climate waste. Where as the ICE vehicle has oil, fuel, coolants, etc to keep it running on the road. Literally every second of use further screwing us.

As I have said in the past; I love old school muscle and driving, but I am not going to let that blind me into being a dunce.

Zero facts in anything you said...

What do you suppose would happen to the already inadequate power grids we have here in America (and in other nations around the world) if everybody suddenly switched over to EV's today? I'll let you think about that for a moment. As far as climate change is concerned, I'll leave it there since its just politics (which is all climate change hysteria is about anyway). There's just no tangible reason for this rabid obsession to ditch ICE's other than alarmism and the political motivations behind it.

But whatever, its just my opinion after all. No need to get triggered...

Everyone has cars that use only 20% and waste 80% of resources vs EV that use 80% and waste 20%.

So which would be better if everyone switched over? rolleyes.gif

There is no rapid obsession either. It is a choice. EV or ICE

Hey, I'm all about the free market so I'm quite happy the choice is there. My problem is when people start trying to legislate that choice away.

Free market? Choice? I'm going to assume you're a libertarian. One of the fundamentals of Libertarianism is not infringing upon the liberty of others. If the scientific community produced data that proved EV's were less harmful to the quality of life of part of this generation and the entirety of future ones', wouldn't you say your argument would start losing some strength?

Just like any tech start-up, it's at the over-valued phase. The valuations will come down when the hit the next road block. With all the legislations ruining gas powered cars, it does look good for Tesla. But I'll be keeping my old car for the forseeable future.
