That doesn't make sense, it'd be mostly a side-grade (rather than an upgrade/downgrade) and x99 has strengths in certain applications that Ryzen doesn't have. (Sane IOMMU/ACS, PCIe passthrough, some motherboards offering Thunderbolt, having processors that offer a lot of PCIE lanes, also quad-channel memory, though that obviously isn't a must for most people. Also better performance in buffering for DAW applications.)
Ryzen is great if you don't already have x99, because of price-performance, but, although it's not worth the extra money for most people, x99 is sometimes a better platform and there isn't enough difference between the two to justify switching otherwise. Wait for Ryzen x399, that's supposed to be their answer to x99, and for Intel's Skylake-X, if you must get new hardware.
