SVP is the easiest to install - it even installs MPC with Madvr for you in the same installation process.

Please clarify, how does it classify as easiest, when other players installations are just "next, next, finish"? SVP has several proxy installers and configuration prompts. The fact that it installs more things, because it needs them, makes it the opposite of "easier" in my books.

Use up the trial first, you may not like it, don't spend money unless you are comfortable with it, it has quirks.

SVP's pro version has such an install. Check MPV, check SVP vapoursynth, uncheck everything else, and you're good to go with no prompts.

But honestly, I think spending 10 minutes for an install vs 2 with a program you spend hours and hours using is worth it...

Also, SVP 4 Pro supports CrunchyRoll.

To be fair, SVPTube (which is part of pro) just uses Youtube-DL.

So, theoretically, you could just manually copy URLs from your browser to a front end for it (like this: https://github.com/MrS0m30n3/youtube-dl-gui/blob/master/README.md), select the right stream, then download it yourself, then watch it in the player of your choice. Or maybe copy the URL and paste it in a player that supports streaming.

All SVP does is automate that process (it watches the clipboard, then just opens the highest quality stream with SVP's player when you copy a URL).

Also, it does support quite a few other sites, just not Netflix or Amazon unfortunately: https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/supportedsites.html

I used to do that for years as well, for people who don't need or want Motion Smoothing, it's a very good way to go. WMP has nailed a lot of features that other players struggle with.
