If one wants to get Ryzen for a production/workstation based build than Titan X makes perfect sense.

As an example, the i5 3570k paired with a mid range GPU by 2012, or with a 4 times faster GPU in 2016. And no problem.

The simple reason is it's not representative of today's performance for most users. Also, drivers and performance change so much over a GPU lifecycle.

Here's the thing. If you want to show 1080ti or Titan performance as an aside that's fine, but to ONLY show one GPU and one company is not proper benchmarking. Also, as we see with the buggy Nvidia performance with Ryzen in Tomb Raider, it is misleading to your audience.

You need variety.

In regards to Ryzen, I thought I would go ahead & jump onboard but since this is AMD's brand new advance chip after all these years, I'm going to give AMD one to two more years to perfect more of what they are doing now before going with AMD. And if for some strange reason AMD starts backsliding, I can stick with Intel & upgrade to a 7700k (if necessary for myself) from the 7350k I'm currently using.

Hopefully by then AMD will have some real nice itx mobos for me to choose from. I'm not interested going back to matx or atx since being an itx user for the past year thinking.gif

I agree if anything it appears in most games (division seeming to be the exception) the R5 chips really shine at 2560x1440 or higher. At 1080p the Intel chips pull away, but at higher resolutions the difference if any is negligible and then you get more threads and/or more cores as well as a better price out of AMD.

edit: I wonder if it is even possible to not be GPU limited at higher resolutions either today or in the near future? I didn't see it, but did any of the reviews try xfire/sli?

I agree that we need variety, but Vega is still not released so I guess they could use the Fury X for high end AMD card. Any other GPU below 1080 will be the limiting factor, not the Ryzen CPU so maybe thats why we do not see much else being tested.

It seems like most reviewers gave up completely on xfire/sli. That would be a good test for sure, like two RX480s or two GTX 1070s.

Who even uses 1080p with new CPUs anyways? I don't get it.

Add if not in the list. Both 480 and 1060 tested for those interested in graphics performance with different cards and Ryzen.
