RX 480 - "Wattman Settings Have Been Restored to Defaults Due To System Error"

Hey all

I get the above error where it says my wattman settings have been restored to defaults, after I freeze and crash.

Thing is, I don't even use wattman.

The games where this happens ; Overwatch, and any game I own with the Radeon gaming evolved screen at the start, basically.
Overwatch is near instant, while other games it happens around 10-20 minutes in.

I tried a clean install using AMD Autodetect, I restored all Radeon Settings' Settings to defaults, no changes.

My card is a reference model with an XFX backplate.

Is the card new? Has it always done that or is it only a recent occurrence? Try to lower the power limit as a temporary solution, and see if that will solve it. It is possible your card is not stable. Run 3DMark's Stress Test. If the card is not stable, RMA it.

Had the card for a few months, it's been doing it for a couple weeks. I'll look into stress testing.

I tried fire strike, worked fine.

How do I lower the power limit? Is that with wattman? I haven't used wattman before, where do I get that?

Alright, got it.

All I had to do was switch all my settings to automated. For whatever reason they decided to set it so that when the card wanted to boost the voltage would go fryer levels and crash.
