OLED 4K 30" 60 Hz - Dell UP3017Q - Page 20

I would settle for 25-27 inch 1440p with 120hz for 1000-1200$. That would probably be my monitor to use for the next 10 years. No need for HDR or sync, IMHO.

Not going to happen, though.

My first impressions - the colors are really nice, no questions. However, the resolution is absolutely horrid. Going from a 27" 5K display to a 30" 4K display is a huge downgrade visually.

Also, during gaming, I was playing The Witcher 3, and rotating the camera - there is definitely some weird 'blurring' (not sure if that's the right name) going on. You can open the "World Map" in the game, and drag the mouse and all the text etc. seem blurry or weird.

I was playing in AdobeRGB.

I've only used this monitor for about 2 hours - so it's too early to tell. But will do a full review of it this week. The blacks are truly incredible - never seen anything like it before. Now, if only they would make an 8K version of this monitor @ 32" rolleyes.gif

In fact, what is preventing them from making an 8K OLED monitor since it can "only" do 60Hz anyway? The T-Con would need to be upgraded to DP 1.4 but... not sure that would be an issue.

4k is now horrid lol

you are a strange cookie smile.gif haha.. i'm not seeing of those issues in the witcher. Just blinded by the messed up colors. I'm pretty close to returning the monitor. As much as i love OLED, blinding supersaturated colors suck.

Is there no sRGB mode? That should be the standard mode for general desktop usage and gaming. If so, is it so horribly off?

Sounds like every OLED I've seen so far, haha. Oversaturated as ****. Try calibrating first, mate. I'm not sure why every OLED manufacturer tries to attract people with oversaturated colors with brain-damaging intensity tongue.gif

One may need a pro calibration here, but with a 3500$ monitor, it should be no biggie honestly.

>.<<br /> I've been calibrating it. tongue.gif (the last ref to that was just a page back smile.gif )

OLED TV aren't bad unless it is in store more. The ISF presets are pretty good. (but could still use more work and are worth the $400-$500 more to get them professionally done.)
That said monitors (unless something is wrong) are pretty ez to do via software and DDC. But hey.. maybe this reader doesn't like the screen? May the software presets need to be different as this is a new monitor? *shrug*

it has sRGB (and Adobe RGB 100% and Rec709 100%).
the power of green is real strong in this monitor smile.gif

From the pics Vega posted, it seems that it has some crazy oversaturated blues and purples, tho - green looked meek!

It's not surprising he thought 30" 4K vs 27" 5K was a huge resolution downgrade. We are talking 147 PPI versus 217 PPI. Absolutely massive difference. However, there's no way OLED doesn't make up for that. I went from 34" Ultra wide at 109 PPI to my 65" 4K OLED at 65 PPI. Never looked back, but I sit a good 5-6 feet from the 65" otherwise text looks horrid.

I think I am going to bite and grab one, if I have inaccurate colors as much as you are describing I will return it or get it professionally calibrated. I have a calibrated LG E6 OLED, so I'll easily be able to tell how "off" it is.

The biggest selling point for me is the PPI increase over my 65", and 120hz strobing. The LG OLEDs use sample and hold so the motion on this thing should be SIGNIFICANTLY better. Anyone with LG OLED that can confirm?

30" 4K is horrid? had a good laugh. How far do you sit? content rendered natively or are you attempting 8K DSR?
