Aren't you going to watercool it?

What's up with this:

"Fortunately the refresh rate is not a lie. There is a a way to do it, but users will need to use the USB Type-C connector and it’s DisplayPort Alternate Mode feature to do it. At DisplayPort 1.2, the DisplayPort Alt Mode can give you 5.4 Gbps per lanes and using all four available lanes can hit a total of 21.6 Gbps which would be enough to support 4096x2160@60Hz. However, the DisplayPort 1.3 standard (which this monitor and it’s USB Type-C port seems to support) can give up to 8.1 Gbps for up to 32.4 Gbps of bandwidth (25.92 Gbps after 8b/10b encoding overhead) which should allow the full 3840x2160@120Hz to be used."

Does the USB Type-C connector need to be plugged in or does the mDP to DP cable alone enough?

I'm surprised this monitor doesn't have USB ports for peripheral devices.

I bought a second Dell 30 Oled in the same shipment as the first one I've posted about in the thread. I needed the second one for the living room where I spend a lot of time as the caretaker for my elderly father. And of course I need the other Dell 30 in my man cave bedroom.

Ok on to the thread topic. Some wondered if the panels vary a lot in IQ and other characteristics. Well the two are about the same in my case. Now I have two dull monitors as far as videos go. Yes that's some sarcasm but there's an underlying truth involved. When I tried the first Dell 30 the video IQ was a tad underwhelming so I went on this thread to find out what was going on with it. And of course it turns out the Dell 30 doesn't have the visual pop of the LG Oled TVs.

Same with my second Dell 30. And both don't quite have the pop of my Samsung 32" IPS 4k U32E850R either, for video. But both Dell 30s seem to be good for games IQ as I like saturated colors. And two more pluses - no more back light bleeding or IPS glow.

Have you changed the video settings in the NV control panel from Limited to Full Range?

ok.. time to start testing again. I have this new meter...
(hrmmm.. when something comes with its own carrying case it makes me worry that i paid to much for it...)

maybe i'll start with the LG c7.. i know that will look better if i put time in to it. I'm not totally sure about this monitor.

I spent so much time screwing with colors this weekend that when i looked outside the window i started questing if the real world spring colors were their correct colors. smile.gif

Can somebody confirm this???
https://www.pcper.com/category/Tags/up3017q

One interesting hang up lies in the video inputs on this monitor. It only has HDMI 2.0, Mini DisplayPort 1.2, and USB Type-C. As posters over at [H] pointed out, the HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.2 connections do not have enough bandwidth to support the panels 3840 x 2160 resolution at 120Hz. Fortunately the refresh rate is not a lie. However, the DisplayPort 1.3 standard (which this monitor and it’s USB Type-C port seems to support) can give up to 8.1 Gbps for up to 32.4 Gbps of bandwidth (25.92 Gbps after 8b/10b encoding overhead) which should allow the full 3840x2160@120Hz to be used. It is unfortunate that Dell opted to go with this odd port arrangement and not include a direct DP 1.3+ port though!
