Tons of users have countered what you're saying. This may be more appropriate for you:

https://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2017/03/08/amd-ryzen-7-1700-review/1

Edit: Honestly, just ask anyone with a 1700 and HWiNFO installed.

What I did link is official, it is a sheet, it contains specs, and it shows in big letters "XFR Support: NO" on non-X models, and "YES" on X models. I will look through the review you posted now, but try to be less agitated, please.

I'm agitated because it's clearly wrong. I don't know whether to be more annoyed by AMD with their incorrect marketing or the lack of conformation from other users like you.

That is true for Ryzen 7 only, mate.

The spec sheets for Ryzen 7 clearly states that all CPUs support XFR:
http://products.amd.com/en-us/compare?prod1=146&type1=CPU&prod2=147&type2=CPU&prod3=148&type3=CPU

Ryzen FIVE however, is a whole different deal. Get you facts straight before you get annoyed, please. For your own health. Trust me smile.gif

Non-X CPUs don't have XFR. That's what the "X" denotes. At least that's the official info. If there is some way to "hack" around the limitation, that's a whole other deal.

You may be correct about Ryzen 5, but this ^ is still incorrect.

I am a proponent of concise information. This whole argument would have been avoided if you had specified Ryzen 5 from the beginning. The OP has the information he needs now, and I learned something new.

1600 if you want to OC.
1600X if you do not want to OC.

As far as I know all chips have XFR but the range it operates with is different between SKUs, that's all. When you OC XFR unfortunately is automatically disabled as the CPU enters some OC mode or what not and a bunch of stuff is readjusted, on/off etc. you would have to dig it out of someone who has more inside info on what actually changes when you turn OC on, try anandtech Ryzen thread for that.

Differences in OC? Max 0.1GHz. and it's all down to lottery anyway, on average maybe 0.1GHz between SKUs. The 4.0, 4.1 GHz limit may also be AMD imposed to save the CPUs from failing too early dunno if it was further tested but you pretty much cannot get higher without subzero cooling. There may be some power/amp limits at play protecting the CPUs.
Most of the chips run 3.8, 3.9 mostly, 4.0 some, 4.1 rare, 4.2 none stable or extremely rare.

Edited this part...sure it doesnt have XFR, but it totally acts like it.

The 1600 has lower clock, a Spire fan, etc.

The 1600x is "binned" from the 1600, hits higher clocks, XFR support and so on. Check out Hardware Unboxed on this. or Gamers Nexus. They discuss it all. comes down to it, you want to spend the extra 30-40 bucks, or not? And are you overclocking?

Well.....I picked up the 1600 non-X for 188.59 with free shipping...now on to more important things...memory.

It seems the speeds are all over the place with all the chips and motherboard combinations.
