GA-AX370 Gaming 5 issues with RAM

Thread Starter
Gaming 5 with an 1800x. 4x4gb of TridentZ 320016-18-18-38 Samsung) RAM, but I am only using 2 of the 4 sticks. All of the problems are worse with 4. Also, I have swapped the sticks around and they all behave in the same way. Board has dual bios and I have F5 on 1 and F5d on 2. same results for both.

Now, when I first boot up, I haven't changed anything in the bios, it boots fine into windows and is running at 2133. If I manually change anything to do with the ram, it refuses to post. even if I try to manually put in 2133 or even 1866... it refuses.

I have done the following for both bios in increments. Stepped through everything 1 at a time.

raised voltages up to 1.41, adjusted timings up to 18-18-18-42. adjusted multiplier up to 32. raised SOC voltage to 1.15. tried profile 1 with everything in auto. tried all multipliers in auto.
tried a full blown OC.... got the CPU up to 4100.... ram....2133 on auto. The craziest thing to me is I can't manually put in 2133 or even 1866 with the ram.

Now, is there something I'm missing.... do I RMA the cpu or the ram or the board.....

by the way, it's all under water....

thanks,

Tom

Given that both your memory and mine should have the same ICs and we use the same board...

Flash stable F5 and try the following:

VDDR: 1.35V

Termination VDDR: 0.675V

Memory multiplier to the max (DDR4-3200)

Timings to Manual Advanced and both channels set to 14-14-14-28

VSOC to default (should default at 1.1V)

Rest leave as is.

It's cool to the touch cause I can't OC the damn thing.

Oh.

Any more.. you know... detail? So we can better help? I dunno. It's pretty hard to troubleshoot with a complete lack of information as to what does the computer do. You know, debug codes, LEDs lit on the board... That sort of thing.

it reboots 4 times into the last known good settings. the debug codes are F9 then 0d before the restart. I now have 2666 running on two sticks in the B channel only. the manual says with two sticks run them in channel A (4_2 & 4_1). i can also get a single stick to boot sometimes in 2666 but not more. I ordered 16gb (2x8) of the 3200 gskill flare x that has the amd ryzen endorsement on it. will be here in 4-5 days.
thanks for helping with this. our systems are really similar.

My 32gb gskill 2x16 3200 ran at 2666 with 16 18 18 18 36 timings advanced manual 1.35v I had it at 2999 once on my first gaming 5 board (which was later RMAd) with 16 18 18 18 38 but this board won't do it... Don't know why. However, it now looks like that RMAd board may have damaged my processor so Newegg has agreed to overnight another board AND processor to me tomorrow. (5/22/17) So, I'll update when I try again with new combo.

OK... Got the new board back to 2999 with 17 18 18 18 38 timing, seems snappier at 1.4v but it's stable at 1.35v as well. That's on the new f6d beta bios which is available through the gigabyte forums. It is the new agesa 1.0.0.6 bios which finally supports t2 timings, which is key as this ram is natively t2.

I haven't gotten it to 3200, but should be possible as this is now supposed to support speeds to 4000mhz. I'm on vacation this weekend and will have more time to experiment when I return Monday evening.

Also, my previous processor was clearly damaged as this one is running a full 10+ degrees cooler under full load.
