It's been since I overclock but just recently built a new pc around 7600K + asus z270K with 16g corsair 2666mhz.
I have been playing around conservative overclocks and manage to get 4.8ghz @ 1.34v and 4.7ghz @ 1.28v - both running 5-7 hours x264 16T modified, RealBench and Prime95 v26.6 (older non AVX version). They do not however pass IBT.
But here's my question, despite passing 5-7 hours one night, if i were to re-run the testing another day it could fail. Usually the failure happens pretty quick. So i wondered whether it was my windows or anti virus or something and I have reinstalled window once and used new anti virus. Because to me it's bizarre if it passes one night and another time it may fail.
I've OC'd before so i kinda know when i'm hitting a voltage that's stable and just matter of fine tuning. Up until 1.34v @ 4.8ghz things definitely unstable but at this volt i was hopeful.
The second thing I noticed is when that happens, bumping more vcore doesn't really help. I've bump my 4.8ghz up to 1.38v and that still happens.
I have NOT touched any settings on my bios other than manually setting 48 and vcore.
