Thats incorrect, my partition table for my pc was gpt for uefi to work.

So, my pc had gpt partition table, with uefi enabled on my zz75 pro3 asrock board with win7x64.

Sadly UnRAID isn't free sad-smiley-002.gif

Lots and lots of guides online making it easy. I would advise avoiding Ubuntu and Mint as they make it really hard.

Random GPU passthrough guides:

Yeah, I understand unRAID isn't free, Though I was considering buying it anyways for my NAS / server solution, and was just wondering how it works for other aspects.
I'll do a bit more research into it, but I think I'll just stick with that box *just* being a server, and stick to Windows 7 / When that goes out of support / I want to finally move to Linux, then I think I'll most likely go with Debian, as I'm most familiar with it.

Thanks!

If you follow those guides you can make any Linux distro pass through anything and as UnRAID requires some work doing to it you could very well just try Proxmox, which is a Free NAS solution (you get popups from time to time but they can be ignored) or Debian (as you're familiar with it) and see if you can get it working.

The reason I haven't tried is because I've invested all of my time the past few weeks in my media server and am in the process of finding the right distro for my needs. Once I've found it I will run it on a USB drive and then try PCI passthrough in the summer so I can ween myself off M$imple Jack and only use their spyware when I want to play games.

I suspect you have the same problem as me. Win7's generic driver doesnt support UEFI GOP thats why its freezing at boot. Here is a workaround:

Thats funny because i had no problems installing on GPT partition and it boots just fine...rolleyes.gif The install media (.iso) is ripped from a original SP1 Win7 DVD and i put it onto a pendrive with rufus. No extra hacks. And it also works with the original disc as well.

All these threads about how Microsoft is terrible seem to saturate OCN these days. I miss the good old days of OCN when everything was a "but can it play Crysis?" joke. Simpler better times indeed.

Its fruitless to argue at this point.

I miss the good old days when Windows was an user friendly operating system and not an user hostile self-sabotaging spyware delivery system.

But here we are.

checked the issue :

Can Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008 read, write, and boot from GPT disks?
Yes, all versions can use GPT partitioned disks for data. Booting is only supported for 64-bit editions on UEFI-based systems.
