big~ish ambidextrous mouse palm grip with a scroll wheel that isn't hot garbage (i.e. NOT Zowie ZA11)

Ok.. so I have been using my Zowie ZA11 for a bit over a month... I should have returned it.. honestly .. three things I really don't like about it..

1. THE SCROLL WHEEL.. what the actual heck how did Zowie say "yes that will do" in testing what a horrid horrible scroll wheel.. if the scroll wheel wasn't such a hot pile of garbage 2 and 3 I would probably live with.

2. tends to get kinda sweaty due to finish.. never had this issue with my Sensei mlg

3. both left and right buttons basically started to shine almost immediately..

so then here I am... I'm honestly tempted to just buy another Sensei... I may well do that. unless someone can point me towards something that will actually work for me. I will lay out my requirements and ask if anyone kindly knows of anything that will work that is an upgrade from just buying another sensei?

I am left handed ...sometimes I like to use the mouse with my left hand ... not always ..but I want the option ... I realize this is the biggie as far as killing a lot of options but I am left handed and I want an ambidextrous mouse.

Additionally I am big and have pretty big hands (see photo) and I only like to palm grip mice .. so has to be palm grip .. the sensei was quite good is this regard as is the zowie if the scroll wheel wasn't such garbage.

I guess that is it actually .. not so much to ask?? but I haven't seen anything that looks like it will work.

here is a photo of me using the Zowie ZA11.. for hand size information

If you like the Sensei shape, try the DM1 Pro S or Nixeus Revel. They both have a shape very similar to the Sensei and both feature the 3360, so way superior to the 9500 in the Sensei.

But be aware that both of them only have thumb buttons on the left side, if that is a no go for you. Due to you wanting to use the mouse with both hands.

i think both the revel and dm mice have no side-buttons on the right, so for left-handed use they'd be limited. their wheels should feel a bit better though, than zowie's.
i would recommend the (zowie) FK, but something tells me you won't like the wheel and coating rolleyes.gif

ever tried the DA left-handed edition?

hi.... I did have a left handed DA.. but I didn't like it all that much.. but I did love razer for at least acknowledging left handed people exist..

I really wish either the DM1 or nixeus revel had buttons on both sides.. I think either of those two would work if they did..

I'm kinda over Zowie for now unless they improve their scroll wheels and coatings..

I mean I get the Sensei's sensor is pretty old and outdated these days.. but man I really like the Sensei ... I have to admit I'm super tempted to get another one...

also.. I am "refurbing" my existing Sensei mlg.. took it apart cleaned all the switches and whatever .. also since the coating on the shell was flaking I sanded it and painted the top shell.. super annoying because you can just buy new shells for the Sensei raw on ebay but not for the orig full sensei or mlg ..but oh well..

the painting project is now complete but it was kinda of a disaster.. painted my thumb at one point.. painted it once.. was pretty happy then caught the cable w/ my foot while putting it back together and flung it across the room and dinged the new paint rolleyes.gif

after some significant swearing and pondering of options.. I took it back apart and painted it again (after sanding it back down) not "perfect" but looks good enough.. waiting to let the paint cure (also have to order new mice feet for it anyways before reassembly... I will be extra careful not to trip over it the next time.. Not sure how well this repaint will hold up however? paint was rust-oleum painter's touch x2 aluminum metallic.

here is the top shell waiting for more drying / curing..

You could try looking at the Cougar 450m, but I've never had one and I think cougar mice aren't supposed to be the greatest in general. Most of the complaints have been about the click latency and weight so idk if they matter to you or not. Anyway the 450m basically looks like an oversize sensei like shape. The 450m isn't that heavy either, but I think their other mice are. Anyway like I said I've never used it and I've heard some negative things about cougar mice, but it kind of fits what you are looking for.

Edit: Oh the 400m is basically the same mouse with a 3090 sensor instead of a 3310 in the 450m so that one is probably not bad either depending on what exactly you want. I thought the 400m was using a laser sensor for some reason.

Edit 2: Also it uses an alps scroll wheel encoder which are normally considered the best so at least that part should be good tongue.gif

I really just want steelseries to make a updated version of the Sensei with a newer senor however.

For you maybe. I've found them to be the best ever. Tactile as hell just how I like it, so I can be precise with it.

OT: Just buy a Revel.
