If you are going to use a discrete video card get an Athlon 860K, 870K or 880K instead of the 7850K.

I imagine a few games will have that cpu at 100% usage, but there's not much more upgrading to be had on the fm2+ platform.
I'm on a a8 7600 with a 750ti and am seriously looking at ryzen.

Yea I think when I get the money I might do the switch to intel unless the ryzen really competes with it! smile.gif

Ryzen is definately competing, even the 1400 is looking good, I hav'nt been this excited since phenom II days.
Either way I think that 7850k, overclocked to 4.5/4.6 will be better than what you have for now. Sell yours for 40 bucks or whatever for a cheap upgrade till you can save up for a new platform.

It is competing and in many scenarios winning.

I built a 7850k system OCed to 4.2 ghz for someone and found it wasn't good enough for gaming. Dropped a 280X in it and now it games fine with the 280X being the bottleneck. Dunno how a 280x compares to a 1050.
