Thread Starter
the local microcenter has these in stock at $139.99 with a $15 MIR. i know seasonic makes a great psu, hows this for bang for the buck though? considering it heavily for my upcoming Ryzen build.

That looks like really bad bang/buck! Bit harsh! I've seen better bang/buck! tongue.gif On top of that my Seasonic Platinum was sooooo loud, I had to buy a different PSU. The Corsair RMx is the way to go. It's my first PSU that is actually silent even when the fan turns on. RM750x is 110$, so 30$ for Platinum rating? Your choice, I wouldn't!

*Edited for clarity.

I'm not gonna try to convince you to get one brand or another! I can only give you subjective experience and right now if I had to chose between RM750x or Seasonic 760, it would be the former. If 10 years warranty doesn't shout "We stand by our product!", I don't know what does. While looking for a new PSU, I did find some complaints about the RM series, but it was the older RM, with the yellow on the sticker. The RMx PSUs are completely new.

EDIT

That's the difference! There's also the RMi which apparently has slightly higher quality components and the CorsairLink, which allows you to monitor the PSU. (wattage in, out, efficiency, fan....) on your desktop. Neat, but kinda pointless.

EDIT2 If it's for your sig rig (Evil Angel) you don't need 750W, A RM650x or even 550W would do just fine and would be even cheaper. Like I said, these things ave very quiet..

As was explained yes its much better and who ever told you not to get an RMx or RMi was either wrong or giving you misinformation.

i originally didnt know that there was a major difference between the RM yellow label and the RMx series with the silver label. i was just going off the naming and seeing the RM name and after seeing what you said about the gold label RM series shiilka i decided to avoid all RM like the plague. the RMx series does offer better pricing for a 750 watt unit. im going with the ryzen 7 1700x, im going to reuse my corsair h100i, and my sapphire nitro + rx480 8gb card and sound card and either go with the gigabyte ax370 gaming 5 aorus or asus prime x370 pro motherboard. im thinking id like the 750 watt region for extra headroom in case id like to try crossfire or do another SLI setup, plus i do plan on overclocking my ryzen system. the RMX750 is a better cost point then the seasonic platinum 760 psu.
