Fan help?

Thread Starter
I'm going to be needing a lot of fans for my new server.
I've got a Lian Li D8000 case:

It has six fans at the front (for cooling the HDDs).

It has three 140mm fans at the back (which I don't think I'll be using), as well as a 120mm above the motherboard.

It also has two 140mm fans on the midplate. (Probably only use one).

I'm not 100% sure on the best configuration here. It's a Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1240 CPU, as well as an AsRock 'extended ITX' E3C224D4I-14S. (I'm well aware this will look ridiculous in this case).

Anyway, the plan is to have all 6 fans at the front bringing air in to the case, providing cool air for the HDDs (was initially toying with a push/pull config but then I couldn't figure out best cooling for the rest of the system).

Have one 120mm fan at the back as an exhaust. Then have one 140mm fan on the midplate blowing directly on to the motherboard.

So, 6x120mm high static pressure fans for the front.
Have one 'high airflow' 140mm on the midplate.
Have one 'high airflow' 120mm for back exhaust.

Now, I planned on going the Noctua rate, as they're obviously highly regarded. But after adding 6 NF-12s, 1 NF-A14s and a few 4 pin Y splitters, I looked at my basket and saw it'd cost me £140.36, didn't even get around to adding back the 120mm exhaust fan. I can't justify spending that just on case fans... I'm looking for something cheaper.

Other requirements are quiet (this is for the time being going to be in my bedroom).
And also, I'm not entirely sure if the server motherboard I have would control 3 pin fans (I know this is something most consumer motherboards do, but I can't seem to find anything online about whether it'll control 3 pin fans as well as 4 pin fans). So unless anyone knows this, they will all need to be PWM fans.

To summarise...

1) Do you think this would be the best fan configuration?
2) Cheap(ish) PWM fans as listed above.

I may be wrong but... All of those fans working as intake and only one as exhaust?

Where do you live? Please do post other brands of fans you have access to so that someone may advise you which are best
for your purpose.

Take a look at his if you haven´t already:

Lian Li are the perfect case. Leave off you exhaust fan. Then no air pressure will build up in your case. See #2 in my sig for a hilarious example. Also look at #7 in my sig for another example and here for a Lian Li example. BTW -- I have reviewed a Lian Li case similar to yours. It was a Lian Li PC-V2130. Nice case.

PS -- I cut out the grills of steel cases these days without using the finger guards you see in these threads. Last time I did it I used Gorilla Tape to cover the cut sides. You won't have that issue.
