[Build Log] Corsair 350D Hardline Water Cooling Upgrade

Thread Starter
Welp, here we go.

I've been wanting to custom watercool for a few years now, but now I finally have the time, money and insanity to do it for real now.

Currently running:
- i5 4590
- 8GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX
- ASUS GTX 660 (still surprisingly decent today)
- AsRock H97M-Pro4 mATX
- 2x 120GB Samsung 840 SSDs
- 1TB Seagate Barracuda
- Silverstone 80+ Essentials 500W
- Corsair 350D

What I'm upgrading to:
- i7 7700K (trying for 5ghz)
- 16GB DDR4 Corsair LPX
- GTX 1070
- Gigabyte Z270M-D3H mATX
- mods to the 350D (add PSU shroud, remove 5.25" bay)

Loop will have a 240 rad and be CPU-only for the time being, but adding the GPU and more radiators in the future isn't totally out of the question. I'm going for a light purple and black colour scheme, so I'll be using Mayhems dyes with distilled water and custom sleeved cable extensions. I wanted to use pastel coolant but I couldn't find it anywhere near me, so it's just dyes for the time being.

This is how my rig looks pre-everything:

(apologies for the crappy phone camera)

And in its current state:

I welcome all input to what I'm doing as I go, because I'm kinda new to this whole water cooling thing.

Only took me about a day to find a buyer on my current mobo/ram using online classefieds, so I'll be going into umart tomorrow to pick up the new cpu/mobo/ram on my way to uni.

In other news, I have the PSU shroud maybe half-done. Cuts seem to be good, and it just needs painting.

(I drilled the pci cable hole after these photos were taken)

I was eager to drill out the rivets holding in the 5.25" bay, but only after that did I realise it was also part of the front of the chassis. I'll have to borrow a dremel to cut that out fully.

I have the 7700K installed now, averaging 30 degrees idle with the 212x and very low fan speeds. Can't wait to get it on water.

Watercooling parts arrived today

Couldn't find a ball valve near me, so I'll see if my local IT shop can get one shipped in. I'll just be using a plug for draining until then.

PSU shroud painted and 5.25" bays removed

Might be quite a while before I get custom sleeved cables.

Ready to start bending the tubes

I added CF wrap to the rear I/O, but it's a bit sloppy so I may redo that at some point.

The dye was a lot stronger than I anticipated, so I had to dilute it, and even then the reservoir is still way too pink for my liking. I'd like to put some opaque coolant in there soon

But heck, my dad was pretty proud of the result, and he works with metal and tubing for a living, so that was nice to hear.
