Fury and Fury X do exist... albeit at only 4gb and potentially an aio cooler. I'm in the same boat on this 290x... bought oct 2013 and amd has offered no reasonable upgrade.

Yeah, I've been waiting for something to replace my 290s, but nothing has moved since 2013.

I'm invested in AMD software related material and don't want to have to relearn how to use Nvidia material, plus I don't support overpricing and monopolization. The Fury series everyone agreed isn't worth the upgrade from a 290.

It uses more power than a 1080ti but is roughly around half the performance. Wow that is rough. I mean its still agreat budget card for getting into the game of if you are really outdated but I would not have given it the 5 series name.

Yeah, bad show on the power usage. However people who are gaming generally aren't thinking about the secondary cost of power. Does it translate into heat issues is the big question, IMO.

Still, they need to fix their power consumption issues, is this going to be like the 4000vs5000 series again?

either in that game/test

the game is more shader/raster/bandwidth bound.
the Hawaii/Grenada driver are optimized more

but in General the RX 580 is faster

Currently best offering for enthusiast/high end are Nvidia's products, meanwhile you could get a GTX 1070 for around 320usd used or with rebates, you cant really get anything from amd that has similar performance/watt aswell vram, even you could decide to get a GTX 1080 as a placeholder and sell when vega comes

Probably at current GCN's design it isnt the most power efficient architecture, it holds most of GCN3/2 core design, and just has some slight change to the gpu to allow higher clock speed, most of Polaris power saving might be from the node shrink
