Samsung 2017 monitors: SHG50 & CH711

Both a disappointment if you ask me, but here they are:

http://displaysolutions.samsung.com/business-monitor/detail/1114/S25HG50

this one I had high hopes for, but it's just a 1080p TN panel.

http://displaysolutions.samsung.com/business-monitor/detail/1105/C27H711

and this one is 60hz only.

Also, remember the photo of Samsung presentation?

most people thought 2K = 1440p, that's what we incorrectly call it, usually.

However, because SHG50 is 1080p, it seems that 2K = 1080p for Samsung, which is more or less correct technically, but misleading.

Meaning, there will be no new 1440p 144hz panels this year. Long live, AUO M270... yet another year of your reign. frown.gif

Seems that CHG70 = CFG70+HDR. Same old 1080p stuff in 24 and 27 inch versions, Freesync.

And there will be variations of CFG70, just with G-sync. That's about it.

Well AoC definitely has a 31.5" 16:9 1440p 144Hz Freesync VA panel coming out. If I'm reading the Samsung slide correctly we should see a similar panel from them and an additional version with G-Sync, albeit without HDR or QD.

EDIT: Not sure what I'm reading on the Samsung slide. blushsmiley.gif

S25HG50 mentioned here: https://pcmonitors.info/samsung/samsung-s25hg50-144hz-tn-model/

In the context of the samsung presentation photo, it seems pretty clear that 2K = 1080p because next to CHG70, it says 2K QD. (oops i confused CHG and CFG)

The most confusing thing about the presentation slide are the numbers in circles, which seem to correspond to screen diagonals. But some of them are next to model names, and others seem to be headings of section dividers on the slide. Also sometimes the larger number is on the left, and sometimes the smaller number.

Given the product information, I can infer one of the numbers hidden by the presenter's body is 24.5.

Most of the 144Hz 1080p TN monitors are 23.6 inches right? I only know of 240Hz panels in 24.5 diagonal. I hope samsung ensures a higher quality color reproduction on their newer model. Many of the current 1080p 144Hz TN monitors have been out for a few years.

So all the monitors we thought to be 1440p are actually 1080p? Lol what a fail. Sucks that I had to settle for the HP Omen X35 but Samsung just isn't stepping up their game...

you should get one, the Samsung CHG75 will be a G-syncer.

The only problem I see here is that it will be curved. Which sucks. Bad.
