Which PSU to purchase for new extreme build? EVGA 1000W G2 or P2?

Hey everyone, I am a new member though I am quite accustomed to building my own PC and overclocking it. I just sold my latest build for a pretty nice sum and I am going to upgrade to the following unit, which essentially has a better mobo, better cooling, and better storage options than my last rig:

i7 7700k with a custom loop (d5 pump)
ASUS ROG Maximus IX Code (or hero, haven't decided yet)
SLI GTX 1080, EVGA FTW Hybrid
16 GB ram (2x8GB G.Skill Trident Z, 3600 MHz)
512GB NVMe SSD
2TB WD Black HDD
9 fans total (4x140mm and 5x120mm) including radiator fans.

Based on the fact that I intend to do some pretty extreme overclocking of the CPU, GPU, and RAM, I calculated around an 800 watt load for this system along with a few peripherals at maximum load. I could probably get away with an 850W PSU, but would prefer to have more headroom just in case I add other components later.

I have narrowed it down to the EVGA 1000W G2 and P2, which I can get for $125 and $183, respectively, through some local deals. I have read both of the JonnyGuru reviews on these PSUs (see links below) and as far as I can tell, the major difference is that the P2 is platinum rated, has japanese capacitors, and a fanless mode, while the G2 is gold rated and has (EDIT) also has japanese capacitors but uses chinese capacitors on the modular board (Thanks to Shilka for the correction). Other than these differences, both have excellent ripple and voltage control. Honestly, I could care less about noise as the PC is kept across the room from me and I can't really hear it anyway. I just want to ensure I am getting a PSU that will supply consistent voltage for overclocking and has the best bang for my buck. FYI, both units have a 10 year warranty.

So, the question is whether the japanese capacitors and platinum rating is worth the extra $58 to get the P2 instead? What do people think on the subject?

With the new G3 line up, I'd suggest it. The 1000W G3 is great and short (and overkill, but this is OCN xD)

The G2 1000 watt does not have a hybrid fan mode on it so if you want that its either the P2 or the G3

Wattage wise 1000 watt is overkill you can step down to the 850 watt and still have more then enough power left over
If you step down to an 850 watt you do get hybrid fan mode on the G2 as only the 1000 watt and above lacks it.

Edit: the G2 dont NOT have any chinese capacitors inside of them so you read that wrong
The only chinese capacitors are on the MODULAR board or in other words they are under close to zero load which means it does not matter the least.

I will look into the G3 line up. After a quick inspection, it looks like it will cost me an extra $35 from the G2, which isn't too bad. The G2 deal also involves a $25 rebate so its actually cheaper straight up. I do like that it has all black cables as my build will be Blue in color. Only downside is that I wouldn't be able to get it locally and will be dependent on NewEgg to get it to me by Friday so I can build the new PC... I like to get that done ASAP in case I need to RMA any parts.

Thanks for clarifying on the chinese capacitors. You caught me focusing way too hard on the summary page and not enough on the introduction page where it clearly states the mainboard is japanese. I am definitely leaning for the G2 right now. I could care less about the fanless mode.

I could get an 850W EVGA P2 for $130, but based on the extreme overclocking, I would prefer to spend a little more to get the extra headroom.

Also, thanks to the both of you for such quick and informative responses!

The EVGA SuperNova G3 is based on the Super Flower Leadex II which is an improved version of the older Leadex I which the EVGA SuperNova G2/P2/T2 are based on
The Leadex II offers improved ripple suppression (8-10mv down from the 15mv the Leadex I had) but the bigest improvement is in the voltage regulation which is now down to 0,1-0,25% from the old 1-1,5%

The G3 are a better option and does not cost all that much extra
Forget about the 80 plus rating thats just efficiency ripple suppression and voltage regulation are more important.

Well after looking into the G3 more, I realized I could get it for $140, a mere $15 more than the G2. It is apparently a lot smaller and just a lot better overall according to JonnyGuru. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys! I really appreciate it!
