I'll test it soon... was trying for 4ghz but need to spend hours on timings to get that to work... it comes out of line on memory multi above 3.639ghz... from 1337 ram to 1104 since it's unstable above 1339ish ram for actual stability... best to keep opteron memory at 1333 as the controller prefers... it's 16 1/2 GB/s though so only 0.5 GB/s lower and stable.

If only there was an Unlocked Opteron haha or an old Opteron in this time period of 3.2-3.4Ghz by factory on the Multi of 200 x 17... It could have easily done it... even 3.5Ghz was totally do-able 200 x 17.5.... Then for 4.5Ghz to 5Ghz would only need 285mhz fsb.. not possible on 880g chipset I don't think... only 265'ish so max 4,637.5Mhz which would be flippin epic as heck.. right? haha

Actually it's the ram multi steps... it needs one more right in the middle of 800mhz and 1066mhz... maybe 1000mhz would be perfect for 33mhz of timing overhead... that's what I need.. more memory multi options haha

Or just ram that's very stable and works from low to high timings... like mean ability among timings... this ram works great at near 1333mhz 7-7-7-1T but it gets freak when wanting to go to 4Ghz since ram is too high memory multi must come down and 8-8-8-1T or 2T isn't working it's like really time consuming.

Yeah the voltage is taking but just need to work on the timings for higher clocks... my ram isn't overclocking ram either it's cheap 2x 8gb modules Samsung 11-11-11-39 ram I think 2T at 1600mhz ... so to achieve overclock stability is extra tricky hahaha

*Update* Well if I can't run past 1337 ram... then I ran the cpu to 3.6ghz like normal 1332mhz ram... But this time 2500Mhz Hyper Transport/ Northbridge Link speed... which is 13.63% more than stock so I think that will help more... This is the link speed between CPU > RAM > Nortbridge > PCIe > Southbridge > I/O ... All of these things increase in speed by 13.63% ... it's basically like running the core 13.63% faster ie 4134Mhz while at 3639Mhz stable... I'll post results soon enough hahaha :0

CPU to IMC (and RAM), is called NB Frequency (it's in MHz).
CPU to Chipset (with it's PCI-e lanes), is called Hyper Transport (it's speed should be in GT/s).
Chipset to South Bridge is called "Alink Express", but I don't think you can tweak that in BIOS...

Thanks. Is it the same on 880G? Probably haha... Here's some preliminary results... looking at solid memory bandwidth and a 0.1 nano second reduction in L1 Latency... Not bad.

This is C1E and C n' Q enabled... Balanced Power vs High Performance

lol,remember, my cpu was only 3.83GHz. wink.gif Not that far above your 3.6. I got my 3dmark off of steam,paid version so I can drop the demo from the test.

Because my CPU is the same as your CPU (same thing under the hood, my only has unlocked multi above 11 and black "badge" in CPU-z), the difference is made by the rest of the system wink.gif

Curse you! Now I'm gonna have to re-install a gtx into the xeon build and run aida64. I have 8Gb of DDR2 1066 underclocked to (I believe)1022 in bios. I post the FSB,ect when I post the AIDA64 results. I THINK it's 426.

Well,I needed to clean my main rig anyway,so I pulled the gtx970 from it while it was open & threw it into the xeon build. biggrin.gif


Here's Firestrike,Starswarm,and the API test. I tossed Starswarm in because it's based on the engine they used for Ashes Of The Singularity and is made for Multi core AND multi thread cpu's so if you have a 6 core/12thread it uses all of them. Wanted to see how 4c/4t did. wink.gif NEVER hit single digit even in 1080! It had points that dropped to 18-19FPS for a few seconds but mostly averaged above a playable 29-30. (40's were the norm) That's with HIGH settings. Medium and 720 might have stayed above 30. (dang,now I'm gonna have to ck it) Oh, FSB is 426. Memory is 1022. Gonna run AIDA64 now.

If anyone's interested, a linpac test (64bit using 90% ram) made my temps run 8-9 degrees higher then Prime95 blend did,and 5 degree higher then Prime 95 small fft's test.

Nice results guys... Just did a lot of testing just to see how high I could get the HyperTransport/ Northbridge clocks up to... Just about 2,900Mhz ... which is unheard of pretty much... Maybe LN2 Guy's are pushing past 3,500Mhz HT/ NB .. Idk .. haha This board needs more multipliers for memory to really get 4Ghz stable... it's right out of it's capabilities .. I think at least will need to do more testing haha

I was impatient with instability so threw more volts than needed .. but had to run Southbridge & Northbridge at 1.5V.. the max value because Southbridge would error out continuous in windows...

Almost completed the 3.8Ghz @ 2,893Mhz HT/ NB... It was very close to 1,500 Multithreaded.
