So after some hype on social media, I decided to release my initial idea for this project. I am calling it "the Arcade" !!!

First I cut some wood, and will have a video on youtube showing that process that I will share here soon.

Next step was to begin dry fit assembly so I can take some more measurements.

First we create the base, that has 4 casters, two are locking to hold the unit in place. This is very sturdy, each caster can hold 250lbs. I even tested the unit by standing on it like a skateboard.

So I started with my wood dowel bit and dowels that will eventually hold everything together.

Next I used this countersink bit to hide the screw heads

And we have the bottom cabinet

Then I freehand drew the top cutout. After I was happy with the shape I took careful measurements, and made the lines straight. Then I cut one side, and laid it upside down to trace to cut the other side so they were exact.

That is all for now, will have more soon!

Some more updates for you guys!

First I have created the top portion of the cabinet, had to match the angles appropriately.

[img]http://www.precisioncomputing.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/IMG_6793.jpg

I used my clamps to hold everything together while I drilled holes for screws and countersunk them into the cabinet to hide everything.

IMG_6794.jpg

Next I marked and drilled holes for the speakers to show through.
IMG_6796.jpg

Here you can see some of the edges of the wood rounded, and also the speakers, and tower 900.

IMG_6797.jpg

Here we see the mini NES Classic that will be integrated.

IMG_6798.jpg

And finally we have the monitor mounted inside the cabinet.

IMG_6800.jpg

Will have more updates soon!

This looks beyond fantastic. How you've made it look so convincing is beyond me- I can just imagine the final thing in my head. It honestly passes for a real arcade cabinet, aside from the wooden construction.
Please figure out some way to add a working joystick onto that. I can already think of a few ideas of how... Also, obviously, a coin slot with the plastic button for power on... wink.gif

Definitely subbing for more updates. Keep them coming!

(also what monitor/case/etc. is that?)

I just kinda made the base to fit the Tower 900 inside, and then made the top. I drew the side panels rough, then measured and made straight lines close to my rough drawings. thumb.gif I am going with the pine and stained finish so it is a little more appealing then just a basic black cabinet. But of course it will still get the arcade flair! biggrin.gif

There will be two joysticks controllers, and the power button I am still working on wink.gif

The rear wheels have locks on them so it locks the whole unit in place, but you can still get beneath to unlock move it etc. Thanks man! thumb.gif

So in trying something new, I come up with this:

IMG_6997.jpg

Couple different colors of paint, painted on wood, and the result was exactly what I was looking for.

So I prep the tower 900 cabinet:

IMG_6996.jpg

This is the paint I am using, covered great:

IMG_6995.jpg

All taped up so I don't get paint where it isn't wanted:

IMG_6993.jpg

The result is a nice sky blue side wall:

IMG_6991.jpg

Before I reveal what I am doing here, anyone have any guesses? biggrin.gif
