Pigeon poop might be a good thermal conductor. Didn't mean to offend the board. smile.gif

It was rumored for almost 2 years that it will arrive in Q2 2017. So it is not a very big surprise. "soon" could be just august instead of september. And could be just with enough stock instead of flooding the market like previous times.

But isn't Coffee Lake just another Skylake refresh?

And how can they fit 6C/12T on it? Still 14nm? By removing graphics?

And blame it on AMD for not giving intel a good enough competition for almost the last decade.
When you don't have competition, you can do whatever you want. And you can see that in every single place in every market.

Some people get like 30C drop from Conductonaut+Kryonaut ( die / ihs )

And apparently IHS height being slightly thicker but not too thick helps. The second pic is the same pic as the third one which may have been an accident.

"I found that depth of pocket on bottom varies from .28-.38mm and flatness varies up too .05mm. " And something about the IHS being sourced elsewhere?

Ha!

If only it worked like that.

I've lost the count of people that buy nVidia and Intel because there is a sticker on them that says Intel or nVidia.

Yup, I got a 24.4 °C package decrease from that very combo.

I guess it is true pigeons are not that accurate with their bombing runs. More likely the pigeons just don't care what they hit?

Well the 7740 (Kabylake-X) that's supposed to be on the HEDT platform (X299) is rumoured to use TIM, not solder, so IDK. headscratch.gif

Well they need to put more stock TIM then, I guess? Coz I leave the black silicone on all my CPU & can still get a 20C temp drop with swapping the TIM.

4-6 Cores? No thanks.
