Think it is 2017.

Should be if it's lga 1151, but we won't know for sure until it's released. Given pressure from AMD, I would venture a guess that it will be.

Probabily nothing Intel releases in 2017 will be that much better in IPC to justify the upgrade over Ryzen anyway.

I will instead thank AMD first who hired Keller, and then Keller, and then Suzanne Plummer(Zen team leader) and her team that made whole behemoth Intel and their Enginners poop their pants.

I think Intel will still lead in terms of IPC and clocks, so 6C Skylake-X / 6C Coffee Lake-S will be able to compete very well with 8C Ryzen.

According to the latest leaked roadmap Pinnacle Ridge (the chip that will replace current Ryzen) is still based on Zen. There's no mention of Zen +/Zen 2 there.

In this case august 2017 is a great time to build PC, and volta appearing as well will make more ppl upgrade.

I guess everyone is aiming for that period to spice the market up.

I guess I am in a minority here. I don't give 2 poops about core count. I want an enthusiast grade CPU with a ton of PCI-e lanes and no silly built in graphics taking up space and generating heat. If kaby-x is a 4-core with quad channel memory, >40 pcie lanes, can overclock past 5.0Ghz all
On x299, I will be doing cartwheels!
