I went to store, played with s8 for a little time, was kinda impressed and confused at the same time. This prolonged screen and weird ratio 18.5:9 looks kinda unusual to me after note 3.. I know that everything else is better in this phone but camera from s7+weird shape and ratio+some problems with red all this makes me confused and I don't know what to do... Just wait some time for note 8 or buy s7 edge which has same camera and better battery and which is 1,4times cheaper than s8 or what?

P.S In my country,if I make pre-order until April 30th,I'll get Samsung Gear 360 (2017 edition) + 32gb 10th class micro sd as a gift.

I will be thankful for any advice, cheers.

It's up to you. Honestly, I am in love with the screen on my S8+. The screen issue has been blown completely out of proportion, and if you get one with a "bad" screen, Samsung will replace it no questions asked. As for the camera, it's actually an upgraded sensor compared to the S7, even though on paper it looks the same. Combine that with better post-processing and software, and the S8's camera is better than the S7.

Coming from your Note 3, though, the S8 will be a MASSIVE upgrade.

Mad Pistol already got most of your concerns, but I can add in my input. Coming from a Galaxy S5, I found it to be an upgrade in every single aspect. I did lose the ability to swap batteries, but I gained the ability to do quick charging wired and wirelessly, so I consider that an upgrade.

I like the longer screen ratio since I can see a bit more when browsing or when typing on a keyboard. Also, when it comes to games or videos, I've been able to switch to 16:9 or 18.5:9 ratio without any issues, although there are times when the 18.5:9 ratio can cut off the top/bottom of a 16:9 video (UI in sports for example). Most of the games I've tried also works well with the longer ratio, with the UI feeling less intrusive. In terms of shape, the dual curved edge is very comfortable to hold compared to my Galaxy S5 and gives me the feeling that the phone is slimmer.

One thing I haven't done much of, but enjoyed was that the longer screen allowed for better multi-window/multi-tasking. It's much more easier to be able to have a YouTube video on top taking about 1/5 of the screen while you have a browser window below without feeling like either window is too small. You can also adjust the line where the two windows meet and everything will scale automatically. thumb.gif

The S8/S8+ should have a slightly longer battery life despite having the same battery capacity. This is partially due to the newer SoC (either Snapdragon 8335 or the new Exynos 8895) and GPU being more efficient. To give you an idea, I was playing a game for 4 hours straight and the battery went from 100% to 42%. My S8+ probably would have gone to at least 7 hours of screen time, but note that I was playing a non-demanding game. Reviews online and Youtube say the S8 can get about 5-6 hours of screen time, while the S8+ can do 6-7 hours. A full 9-hour work day will use up about 20-40% of my battery, depending on how much I slack off. tongue.gif

Red tinted screen isn't really an issue for most people. I think it was only really in South Korea that had defective screens. Every screen will have slight biases towards red/green/blue and you're able to change the color balance in the Display settings. Samsung is supposedly rolling out an update to be able to extend the range of adjustability for the color balance within the next few weeks.

I came from an Iphone 6s + and the screen was weird for all of a day. Now I wonder how apple has such terrible screens. I think android can definitely get a few pointers from Apple on UI design. Well samsung I guess since its there version.

Yep, I upgraded from an iPhon 6 to a Galaxy S8+ The screen's aspect ratio took all of 10 minutes to adjust to. It's not a "oh this is weird" adjustment; it's no compromise. Instead it's "oh my, all this new screen real estate!"

It's a fantastic phone so far. Buttery smooth, very clean design. It's simply a joy to use.

The only compromise, or it's weakest quality, is the speaker. It just seems very hidden in the case, probably just a few milimeters from the edge of the case to help with it's IP68 rating. If you cover it on accident while watching a video in your hands, you completely muffle the sound. Obviously you just need to readjust your grip, but I always seem to cover the speaker grill day to day.

I love the S8+... except for the screen.... more precisely the glass. I had the phone for a week and you could already see micro scratches, even though it has been covered and not even in my pocket for a good 5 days of that week.

There's also a deep scratch which you can see on a white screen, it's pretty bad. I advice that you don't use the phone without a screen protector.

Also I tried the official screen protector, don't get it. The sides keep getting bubbles and won't stick at all after a while and I have tried a lot of times to do it properly, but nope.

Interesting. What do you think the scratches are from? Certainly not ordinary use. (unless you're secretly a wolverine-like mutant)

Don't know. I honestly hardly used the phone so far. I also hAve a flip cover so the screen is protected in my pocket.

I don't live near a beach or rocky terrain.

Either it had the scratch out of the box or a particle got in between the glass and cover.

Could be possible, none the less. It is still easy to scratch the screen, especially if you hate micro scratches as well.

It's not that easy to scratch. It's supposed to hold up well to coins and keys that are usually in people's pockets.
