Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Owners Thread - Page 8

I checked out my local store and discovered that a high percentage of s8 had this small speck of dust somewhere.
The girl at the samsung stand checked with me all the exposed phones , including mine there were 4 out of 7 s8 with this problem , one even right above the front camera.
In another store maybe only one had it , not so sure , but 4 out of 13 is a big number , probably a bad batch? they refused my return because they thought the new one could have it too and told me to rma it or contact samsung.
I was against returning my s8 because it seems to have a good display and I won't notice that small point on the edge so maybe I will just send a mail to samsung and hear what they say .

Also does the phone have a garbage bin where recently uninstalled apps are stored? I remember this feature but I cannot find it.

The battery, screen, camera...all fantastic.

The finger print scanner is no longer a "thing". I've adjusted to where it sits, rarely ever missing it.

I never understood the focus on the fingerprint scanner when they're other options to get into the phone and that are just as secure.

Picked up my S8+ on tuesday and coming from an iP7+it's a dream. Only complaint is that the S8 headphones are trash.

They are much better than what would come with previous Galaxy phones or even the iPhone ($5 crap). They are not even close to $99 earphones though, maybe $25-35 at best. They sound a bit too tinny for me, although they make for great travel earphones that take up very little space.

I bought the 256GB microSD card and AKG Y50BT headphones from someone else who got the $99 pre-order bundle and the Bluetooth AKG headphones are actually pretty good. Very good bass, clear mids and decent highs. Very different sound profile from my Sennheiser 598, but great for enjoying music/videos for work or travel. 20hrs battery life and longer range with Bluetooth 5.0 (from S8), it's very much worth the $70 I paid.

Yesterday, after owning the S8+ for only 6 days, I found out just how sensitive it is to being dropped... frown.gif It's incredible how easily it shatters. It just screams of bad design / money-making scam to me. I dropped my previous S7 Edge more violently and several times and the screen was perfectly fine. My S8+ now has a shattered top-left corner from a 40cm drop.

I've ordered a UAG Monarch case and an Ultimate Shield tempered glass screen protector, but I may replace the screen on the phone prior to using these.

You were using it without a case?

I've tried running my S8+ without a case, but it's just too thin and slippery when naked. All the cases I've tried have made it much easier to grip as well as use the fingerprint sensor.

I've made a breakthrough on my S8+

I've been getting a lot of lag and stuttering on it, and it's been driving me crazy. I have finally been able to make lag all but non-existent on this phone. All I had to do was set the res to FHD+ (not sure if this helps), and change the background to a static image instead of that moving image that comes stock on the phone.

Now, it IS the smoothest Android phone I have ever used, bordering on the smoothness by my previous iPhone 7. Considering how much more premium this phone feels/looks compared to the iPhone 7, I am now 100% happy with the S8+.

Pass this on... making the background a static image literally transforms this phone. thumb.gif

Never really liked using moving images as my wallpaper cos of both battery and performance issues. So far 2 months into using this phone, still no issues and loving it thumb.gif
