How long is each pass suppose to take on average? Memtest86+

Hello OCN community!

I'm testing DDR4 RAM.
Pass 1 took 18 minutes. Pass 2 is taking much longer. No errors yet. Should I try PC-Check? I read someone used that here on OCN.

Should each pass be taking about the same amount of times since they are literally running the same tests?

Note: I'm testing single modules now. Before that, I was using 2 modules and it got stuck at pass 100% and struggling on test #8.

I don't understand how with the single module it got stuck at 100% while doing test #10. It did finish pass 1 in 18 minutes though, successfully. Maybe I'm i don't fully understand what is happening in memtest86+

Update: It seems that on pass 2 it started doing test #8 at pass 50% ish and is staying on test #8 until 100%.

Try Memtest86 it's up to date. Memtest86+ has not been supported in a while.

omg ur right. it's almost 4 years old... sigh. Thanks for telling me smile.gif. Should I test both RAMs first? Is there anything I should know before running the test? Like, maybe there's certain options I should select before running the test.

Thank you so much. I would've thought there was a problem if it took memtest86 more than an hour to pass a test. I think technicians have been saying 10 passes is the standard to indicate good stability. Do you know how long it took you to run 8 to 10 passes on DDR4?

Almost at 8 passes and nearly 24 hours running lol. I'm gonna go for 10 to be safe. You guys agree?

1 Pass is enough for me, I only run it after having completed all my other stress and stability tests on a overclocked system.

If it was for a server or I suspected there might be a faulty stick id run it 24 hours before pulling the plug if no errors showed up.
