Here's the thing though. We've convinced ourselves that upgrading nearly every generation is needed to be able to keep our PC gaming experience at a high-level. It's impressive marketing by companies like Nvidia. In reality developers just don't really care much about PC and the reason we need so much graphical power is due to poor optimization for our diverse PC hardware. If you guys want to continue down this road good luck to you. I've seen the light and I'm done. thumb.gif

I don't always agree with the stuff you post, but this right here, I have to give you two thumbs up. thumbsupsmiley.png

I am still extremely pleased with it and its still a beast of a card. That might be a hard concept for you to grasp but it is what it is. Moaning and whining about it is not going to change a damn thing. Some can play the Nvidia wallet game and others cannot. Simple as that.

The market exist for these wallet games Nvidia plays or they would not do it. Some folks have a sick addiction as well and can never be pleased. I don't know how many idiots I have seen selling their 1080 for a Ti and a Ti for a Titan XP. Those types again can NEVER be pleased with what they have. That in itself are the type of customers Nvidia targets. At the same time. You gotta thank those people. If it was not for them. We would not be getting better cards with lower pricing. Those are the people that drive down the costs for common folks that want high end cards.

Rant over. rolleyes.gif

You're kidding right?! Those are the people who keep Titans at $999 and beyond, precisely because nVidia knows those types will pay just about anything to have even the smallest edge.

The 1080 Ti launched at $50 more than the 980 Ti. So about 8% more expensive in US dollars. Not sure why it would 45% more expensive over there unless currency fluctuation plays the biggest part.

Prices here in the UK have gone insane since Brexit but were already rising. OCUK have the most competitive prices in the UK for the customs:

What it all really boils down to (as excerpted from NVIDIA Form 10-K; also ref. NVIDIA Quarterly Revenue Trend):

GPU Business. GPU business revenue increased by 39% in fiscal year 2017 compared to fiscal year 2016. This increase was due primarily to increased revenue from our GeForce GPU gaming and datacenter platforms. Sales of high-end GeForce GPU products for gaming increased over 40%, reflecting a combination of continued strength in PC gaming and strong demand for our recent Pascal-based GPU products.

Doesn't really matter though whether it's NVIDIA, AMD, INTEL, or what have you. They all know the first to get market with the latest and greatest regardless of how long that product actually stays on top will essentially capture the most epeen, whether shunt mods be damned or not.

On a different note, did you know that many of today's oscilloscopes can be hacked?

I am comparing stock. Ppl gunning for gtx 2060 or 2070 are mostly not hardcore overclocker. They just need decent game capability right out of the box with decent price.

2nd they are not the on same node for sure especially if they are scheduled for 2018 released. At least it is on a slightly enhanced 16nm process node that give more clock speed and power saving (while being 20% smaller)

3rd the 70s card have been consistent with edging out previous gen flagship.

970 > 780 ti / titan black
770 > 680
670 > 580

It been going on for some time.

As of now, if they want to slap a 384 bits configuration just fast enough to feed all the hungry CUDA cores, 12GB has to be tied to it. Also there is only so much Nvidia can squeeze with memory compression.

Of cos 8GB configuration is possible with HBM in 512GB/s configuration. But nah, they arent coming to consumer space in Geforce yet when they haven show up in Titan.

Anyway for the past 3 generation, the next gen card always have more memory than the previous Ti. So its still a safe bet it will be 12 at least.

Aint happening, there's absolutely no reason for them to put more on there. Again no games come close to using all the 8gb vram, some may allocate it but it doesn't get used. And just because previous cards have released with more vram than the previous ti doesn't mean it will happen again, I could also say that a mainstream card has never released with equal vram of the previous titan

OMG NEW TECH IS MAKING MY OLD TECH LESS RELEVANT!!! I QUIT PC GAMING!!!

I didn't know 13 year olds were on here?

You will be surprised. Its either 6gb or 12gb on a 384 bits while 8gb is only possible on hbm2 and that isnt coming not for first gen volta geforce at least.

You can be 100% sure it aint going to be 6gb.

I'm lost, is it really Volta or just pascal refresh ? Anyway, i have to wait, Nvidia got my money for this year, i tried cards from 1060 to 1080, and sticking to 1070 until my next whole rig.

Peace smile.gif

I find funny the people still bashing amd gpus for running hot...
My 970's were hot my 980TI was hot as hell, my 1080 in stock is not even near the 60c+ advertised by nvidia in their presentation...

Nvidia can go to hell for all i care. People keep playing their game, keep purchasing their cards so they keep milking XD. if people didn't see it with Pascal and the founders crap, 2 versions of titan, 2 versions of 1080, the ti and the price, nothing else will open their eyes.

simple as that..

and were amd stand (market wise) between 1060 and 480, this is a no brainer the 480 is a better overall card and it will age better XD

im not quoting everybody XD
