Hello OCN,

Looking to build a new gaming computer for my cousin. its been a long time since I done this task. Can someone recommend me a good motherboard? I am not sure what chipset is best bang for the buck right now. Also probably going with the shylake cpu, because I hear that's the new line of Intel cpus if im not mistaken. P

I appreciate all the help I can get. Trying to get this done for his birthday.

Also this is the CPU im thinking of buying for him.

That's a Kaby Lake CPU (7th gen).

Anyhow, you will want a Z270 chipset.

A midrange ~$160 board such as the ASUS Prime Z270-A should be fine.

A lower board ~ $110-130 such as the MSI Z270 SLI PLUS, MSI Z270 TOMAHAWK ARCTIC , ASRock Z270 Extreme4, ASRock FATAL1TY Z270 GAMING K4 would also work.

If you have a computer shop near you that can help you, a more risky option would be to pick up something like the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII RANGER which is $125 after rebates and hope that it comes with the right bIOS revision to support Kabylake https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132586
