so if I understand correctly, Intel is releasing Lavalake-X for a platform that it can't fully make use of? why?

Actually, no pigeon poop would be nice.

Judging from the 114W TDP I'd be inclined to agree with you - possibly 4.4-4.5GHz base clock?

I like to imagine it's the 7700K die, just with the GPU disabled. It's still there but can't be used.

I Speculate
4 Core $350
6 Core $450
8 Core $800
10 Core $1100
12 Core $1700

Those 8-10 core price drops will only happen if they come a little to their senses. rolleyes.gif

This is Intel man. redface.gif

I think 8 core should be $600 & 10 core should be $1000. But..... These prices I'm thinking based on their past history.

Skl-X/Kabl-X has both better IPC & overclocking compared to Ryzen, so they have no need to go real low on their margins.

I dont think so this time, ryzen is crushing their 6900k badly at $400-500. Just not likely.

$300
$350
$600
$1000
$1500

That is my guess.

I think people forget that Ryzen's performance is hit and miss in some workloads and especially games. Intel delivers stable performance in everything.

This is why I skipped 1st generation Ryzen CPU's (also because of very low overclocking potential).
Probably going to pick up a 6-8 core Skylake-X instead. Coffee Lake 6 core would also be interesting.
