How to turn off gpu on motherboard

Thread Starter
I currently have 980ti on top slot that is in a watercooled loop and trying to test out my new aorus 1080 ti xtreme on the 4th slot.
I get eeror code 62 on motherboard. I connected the gpu power to the 1080ti but no go.
How should I go about fixing the problem?

most likely you'll have to do something in the bios to get that to work correctly. Otherwise you'll need to take the 980ti out.

At the moment taking out the 980ti is not an option. In need of tube for new loop routing.

Probably depends on the motherboard.

To set the card up on my board I would:
shut down
Remove the Ti from the slot.
Check my manual to see if any SSD or anything else is conflicting with that slot, making sure to lookup that error code in my mpotherboard's manual. Solve if this is an issue.
Boot into BIOS via 980 and set IGP as boot graphics device in the BOOT section of the BIOS.
shut down
Unplug the power from my 980 and plug my monitor cable into the motherboard's IGP port.
Boot into Windows on IGP and disable my 980 in device manager without removing the drivers.
Restart into Windows to see if you're still all good on IGP.
Shut down.
Install Ti in slot and connect power cables.
Boot into BIOS.
Check that BIOS sees the Ti.
Head into windows and install the Ti.
Shut down.
Plug monitor into Ti.
See if Windows boots onto Ti.
Restart into BIOS and set boot graphics from IGP to [PEGx]. Where x is the slot or device number of the Ti.
Disable IGP in Windows.
Reboot into windows and marvel at my new card's total awesomeness.

But that's just me on my board. I could be totally wrong.... 2cents.gif

OK, that stinks. This is the only type situation I ever use the IGP for.

Have you tried a different slot? Your board shouldn't be balking at the new card. Almost any board can run multiple cards.

What does that error code mean?

Can you install both, power both, and hook them both up to a monitor and reach your BIOS?
