Yes, it is really called Call of Duty: WW2. We don't know much about the game bedsides the era in which it is set, but details will be announced on Wednesday, 26th April, at 6pm UK time.
Kinda interested, regardless of the name that somehow is actually worse than "Battlefield: 1". Just to see how a publisher that's forced to innovate shows.
going to be interesting to see where this goes. I don't play BLOPS3 or AW but my daughter does, I find it hard to believe that the traget audience will give up the jump boost pack thingys and all the guns/attachments etc.
Only COD game I've ever purchased was COD4, I lucked out. Vietnam would have been gold for the singeplayer, should be interesting to see what sledgehammer can do revisiting ww2.
I appreciate the awareness. Any more takes on WW2 will need incredible production value or an alternate time line to avoid fatigue. A realistic ww2 reboot with realistic graphics, physics, gibs, audio, and VR will take my money.
I'm actually a bit excited for this. First COD game I've even been interested in since Black Ops. I didn't even play that much. Something about WWII shooters always get me exited.
I'm sorry BF1 will go down in history as one of the worst games of all time. I think BFBC2 is the worst game of all time. In fact I'll never buy another EA/DIC3 cheat game again. There are a lot of people think that same way.
I just couldn't believe how unrealistic the animation and movement in World At War was. For a WW2 setting, it felt awfully cartoony with plastic sheen EVERYWHERE. Uninstalled it after about 10 minutes, realizing I will never get used to it. Seriously, some of these designers need to play a few more FPS games and judge what an overall comfortable movement camera feels like. I'm not strapped and jutting down the street with my pants halfway down my thighs, intently bobbing to some silent beat.
I really hope they have a server browser and dedicated servers like the Battlefield series. I left COD after Black Ops 1. Fell in love with COD 1 and United Offensive expansion, had a lot of fun with COD 2, fell in loved all over again with COD 4, got a refund for the garbage MW2 was, then World at War was ok, and Black Ops 1 was the last one I really played. They really need to get back to basics and make a PC friendly COD again. At least with the failure that COD has become I got to discover the Battlefield series which I think is amazing.
Funny to see how Activision is playing catch up with EA in the past few years.
First Ea had Titanfall with fun wallrunning mechanic, so CoD tried to copy that. Now EA made success with BF1 , set in WW1, and Activison tries to get back on the historic bandwagon
I used to be a HUGE COD player until Black Ops. Haven't touched the series since.
Ported over to BF series at the same time, and loved that series until BF1 (what a joke that game is to me).
Now I don't have a current shooter I enjoy, other than BF4.
Honestly though, COD could pull me back in if they do dedicated servers and make it similiar to World at War. W@W was really really fun to me, and I could use more fun. The kill streaks and perks were pretty basic, the weapons had decent variety, and the maps had great flow for the most part. Maybe a few too many choke points, but that is to be expected these days. Do I EXPECT this game to have any of the things I just listed?.......NOPE.
I think it will die just like BF1. The pace of a WWII and WWI shooter is too slow for today's gamers that are used to wall-running, jump boosting, flinch shooting, fast spawns, quick action after 3 steps, arena shooter. Also, don't forget making the gun look stupid with stickers and paint, and dressing up the character in crazy suits and colors.
With battlefront 2 out this year, I'm expecting Battlefield 2143 next year.
