It would surely one up EA in the bad ideas for a FPS competition.

Like this idea.

Hah, muzzle loaders for the most part and more than a few soldiers running around wishing their muzzle loader had rifling. There were some repeaters but they weren't in wide use.

Any war prior to the 20th century should be avoided in FPS games, leave them for the RTS and melee crowd.

I see no reason why a modern shooter would need to avoid muzzle loading weaponry.

really? who would play a game where you only had a half dozen guns to choose from and all of them are single shot guns lol

I would, you'd need to use your shots efficiently and either retreat to increase the distance between your enemy to reload or close the gap yourself for some melee action.

Sorry to say it, but you would be pretty much alone in the servers...

WW1 is perfectly acceptable in terms of tech; primitive tanks and planes, rifles, automatic pistols, primitive machine guns, etc. It works because there is a balance of weapons.

WW2 has more variety of weapons and better vehicles. Nam and Korea had almost current tech. And of course modern combat has the whole range of weapons.

Before the turn of the century, you would be hard pressed to find a decent selection of weapons and you would alienate the run and gun players which unfortunately fill the bulk of the servers today.

These games are gun specific (and with Battlefield vehicle focused). Anything before WW1 would not sell enough to justify it's existence. Not sure many of us would want to play out an episode from the History channel...
