BTW, if they focus on the story-line and characters we can see a playeble Cod game finally from Activision.

Trust me, game developers know exactly what their "colleagues" are working on in other companies, there is no way Activision didn't know about BF1 long before it was announced.

WWII is a vastly different war than WWI though so I still don't really see this new COD as having played "follow the leader" with regard to BF1. Obviously WWII was done to death around 10-15 years ago but in reality we haven't seen a revisit to that era from any of the big AAA FPS games in a long time, and the technology nowadays is vastly different from the days of the old WWII games. We've basically been stuck with modern warfare for a very long time and I can't wait to see WWII done with current graphical capabilities.

I agree but I am hoping that they make it feel like WWII and not just look like it. If it plays just like black ops with WWII clothing then we can say they were playing follow the leader with BF1.

BF1 is pretty much a Battlefront reskin -- the player/weapon animations are much the same. The assault class skids around like a baseball player trying to steal 2nd base, all the while wearing an AT gun, 2 anti-tank grenades, and an assault rifle. Realism, it ain't.

It is COD... There wont be anything ground breaking. Might still be Dx 9.

Gameplay will be good though.

+1 - I would love to assault the beaches of Normandy in a modern day WWII shooter with the hardware I'm running now. thumb.gif

CoD played follow the leader with CoD:Ghosts where they tried the "destructible environment' thing. Well we all saw how well that game did. Imo, they key for CoD's success is to embrace what it is, an arcade FPS arena style shooter. That's what it has been ever since Advanced Warfare and tbh, it wans't too bad. It should also focus on the storyline element and provide a killer single player campaign. Again, the single player DLC is a good idea I think. Just think about it, buy the original CoD 4 Modern Warfare game for 60$, then pay 20$ for the single player part of MW2 and MW3. Not to mention that CoD 4 multiplayer was probably the best one... (personally I liked MW2 more but that's just me).

I agree, we really need to see both COD and BF releases that offer a robust and compelling SP campaign that doesn't feel like a tacked on after thought or a glorified tutorial for the MP. There is absolutely room for an engaging campaign in the FPS genre as long as it has a good plot and focuses on its characters rather than being mindless set pieces with two dimensional, throw away characters in it.

I think to be truly innovative. They need to remove single-player all together and focus entirely on being multiplayer; having a shed load of guns, customisable options, bigger maps, much bigger... more players per map, spanning through from past to present with online co-op modes.

Maybe they could call it "Sweep", up to 4 players can co-op and take out a village/town/area with hostage situations, bombs, or a combination of all, but some of the other players are not just AI.

Have a full leveling up system, akin to what they currently have, but with proper gear, like the Rainbow Six games, each boot, each shoulder etc...

Then when you progress, you kit yourself out with what would be similar to World of Warcraft Endgame, where you do raids in massive parties against hordes of enemies in towns and cities. Maybe they could finally add proper vehicular combat...

COD is always going to be the same rinse repeat stuff we have always seen, not that it is a bad thing really... It does have silky smooth gameplay... it does feel satisfying when you get a killstreak, and the weapons feel pretty good. They just need to stop with these awful maps. The last map I thoroughly enjoyed was the castle map in Ghosts. One thing that also confuses me, why not add all of the maps that have ever been made, into one game... minus the futuristic rubbish.

The single-player, although I know is a hollywood setpiece and some actually look forward to playing it.... This could easily be made entirely multiplayer, with a link to your character, stats and gear... They need to turn COD into an MMO in my eyes.

Heck, the Zombie mode would be fantastic if they had a map like DayZ. Imagine that... the COD engine, with the slower Zombies (and maybe some boss ones deep within cities), you have to go out and find guns and food, make a shelter... But with the COD physics it would be glorious.

Just some ideas... Probably numerous reasons why they would never do the above. But I can still dream.
