I agree. I do not EVER play COD for the single player. Either the multiplayer or the single player always ends up as an after thought. Never has there been a balance of all good well rounded game it seems. Right now, with the gaming community how it is, we need a great solid multiplayer!

Exactly.

I'm not sure exactly what activision are trying to achieve other than make money, because they know no matter what they do, their games will sell. I feel their games lack innovation and depth because of this, and no real drive towards drastic change.

I'm sure they have some talented guys working on their titles, I would prefer a new COD once every 2-3 years rather than every year if it meant innovation and improvements in all fields instead of the SSDY.

Honestly, the last thing we need is more multiplayer only games. This shift to MP games seems to be the driving force behind the crapification of games.

The reason you don't see drastic changes and "innovation" is because it is too risky with the amount of development money spent on AAA titles. This is the reason BF1 turned out to be a modern shooter wearing retro clothes. They couldn't take a chance on changing up gameplay too much but they still wanted to be seen as offering something different/new/fresh.

Different and innovative is the responsibility of Indie devs and one off small budget games, not AAA franchises. If it becomes successful then you turn it into a franchise by giving it a new coat of paint every few years.

I think you guys raise some points about being "innovative" but that's not CoD. CoD has an identity and a history and there's no need to to betray it. I mean you guys want CoD to make a DayZ type shooter... there is one. It's called PUBattlegrounds. There's a ton of good games out there, and I would also like cool co-op tactical shooters against AI, but that shouldn't be CoD. CoD should stay like CoD and focus on it's strengths, focus on what made the franchise great.

The whole idea of using a big trademark like CoD to get people to buy into a game, and then selling them a game that's not anything like CoD feels deceitful to me. Even if it turned out to be amazing game. Imagine if they made a Mass Effect strategy game and called it Mass Effect: Andromeda 2. Even if turned out to be amazing I'd feel as a buyer that they should've called it something else. Imo, there's some good ideas you guys are throwing out, but those ideas don't belong in a CoD game. Unless you branch out of course.

This is the first thing I've seen make sense on this thread since I posted last.

theres not enough people that think like this which is why they keep evolving into the trash they are now. some people want CoD to evolve into something its not. theres a reason other shooters exist. if you want a different game play a different game. maybe im just getting too old.

I wasn't trying to make the argument that COD franchise should try to be innovative, I think COD should be what it's player base expects it to be.

I was really referring more to Roxborough.

Maybe they could call it "Sweep", up to 4 players can co-op and take out a village/town/area with hostage situations, bombs, or a combination of all, but some of the other players are not just AI.

Have a full leveling up system, akin to what they currently have, but with proper gear, like the Rainbow Six games, each boot, each shoulder etc...

Then when you progress, you kit yourself out with what would be similar to World of Warcraft Endgame, where you do raids in massive parties against hordes of enemies in towns and cities. Maybe they could finally add proper vehicular combat...

COD is always going to be the same rinse repeat stuff we have always seen, not that it is a bad thing really... It does have silky smooth gameplay... it does feel satisfying when you get a killstreak, and the weapons feel pretty good. They just need to stop with these awful maps. The last map I thoroughly enjoyed was the castle map in Ghosts. One thing that also confuses me, why not add all of the maps that have ever been made, into one game... minus the futuristic rubbish.

The single-player, although I know is a hollywood setpiece and some actually look forward to playing it.... This could easily be made entirely multiplayer, with a link to your character, stats and gear... They need to turn COD into an MMO in my eyes.

Heck, the Zombie mode would be fantastic if they had a map like DayZ. Imagine that... the COD engine, with the slower Zombies (and maybe some boss ones deep within cities), you have to go out and find guns and food, make a shelter... But with the COD physics it would be glorious.

Just some ideas... Probably numerous reasons why they would never do the above. But I can still dream.

This would be the complete opposite of innovative and instead just doubling down on more of the same. "Oh look, more weapons and more players in MP! How innovative!" No thanks.

Plus, there's already a shooter with tons of guns, gadgets, and players. It's called Battlefield 4. It has 64 players, way too many guns, and way too many gadgets.
