Microsoft has announced it will stick with twice-a-year feature update schedule for Windows 10, which will be released in March and September every year. Microsoft’s Bernardo Caldas, who is the General Manager for Windows Commercial Marketing, confirmed this schedule in a new blog post on the company’s official site.
Microsoft’s blog post says the company is now “aligning the servicing models” for its Windows 10, Office 365Pro Plus and System Centre Configuration Manager products. The post confirms the next Windows 10 feature update is scheduled for September 2017, and each release will be supported for 18 months. The two updates will roll out each March and September, confirmed the company.
Microsoft says Windows 10 currently has 400 million users. The company rolled out the Creators Update in April this year for all Windows 10 users.

Pretty much. Why do major Windows updates always seem to break everything? I was really hoping the creators update wouldn't be like the ones that came before but I still had to spend hours afterwards getting all my stuff working properly again.

Also, why doesn't Windows warn you before it randomly decides to install new drivers in the background? Twice now I've had it update graphics drivers while I was playing a game, the 2nd instance causing a BSOD and rendering the OS unable to boot. I had to make a recovery flash drive to fix it. It's completely unacceptable.

Exactly.
Each update seems to break things of far more practical value (to me) than what they add. Add that they seem to take some control of drivers and software to the rest of the mess and, I don't see the compulsion to "upgrade," to say the very least, especially as someone who greatly values stability (and privacy...and usability).

if I could play all my games from linux i'd switch in a heartbeat.

thats the only thread holding me to windows anymore, im sick and tired of compatability issues and fighting with uefi to install the os, especially on asus boards.

As long as they're as feature-packed as Anniversary update or Creators update, as far as I'm concerned they can go right ahead.

That is just an excuse. Consoles exist you know.....

I don't think this serves anything but a feeling/image of making some progress.

Aligning the servicing models sounds like they're planning the move to subscription-based model or trying to better schedule all the work they have to do.
