Wraith Max?

Thread Starter
I thought these were shipped with the 1800x?

Now most "X" processors are boxed without a cooler?

If you haven't noticed you're up poop Creek when it comes to getting a cooler to work with AM4 right now.

$460+ for a CPU (1800x) and advertising that Wraith Max cooler to find out it's not available?

Someone please clear this nonsense up lol

AMD arguably figures that on the X models people will OC and will get their own cooler anyway. Not saying it's right, but it cuts cost which is then transferred to the extremist consumer.

It was brought up on Reddit and someone from AMD was answering. Once the right question was asked, he never responded.

That question was "why make the Wraith Max in the first place?"

I just checked my usual store pages and on both of them it clearly states when it does or doesn't come with the cooler.

They did this also with certain older chips too, I remember black editions not coming with one. And I get a nagging feeling there's some Intel ones which did similar.

Can't say it's 100% approved imo, but as long as it's clearly shown on the store pages (which comes down to individual stores rather than AMD) I can't see anything majorly wrong with it. If you're building a new PC then you should be paying close attention to details anyway.

Then why are they not available at Newegg or Amazon?

Here's the Reddit thread I was referring to.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/60w80t/amd_we_want_to_be_able_to_purchase_wraith_max/

It seems as if it won't be available... So why make it?
