Need help deciphering Seagate Enterprise SMART data.

I need help deciphering what the smart data means on this drive.

Right now it is in a raid enclosure and it is constantly being dropped it is not in any raid of any kind just a stand alone drive.

I have tried switching bays and esata cables and even different enclosures and different ports on my raid card
Code:

Hm... that is interesting. Cards dropping off like that I have usually found to either hitting bad sectors but not reporting them. Then, they lock up and require a power cycle. Typical seagate failure. Really annoying to deal with too. I would say your drive is failing bud but smart isn't recording it.

Either that, or there is something wrong with your RAID card itself.

The drive does have a high command timeout. That is definitely a sign of something amiss. I weigh more toward hard drive failure than RAID card failure. You have a backup? If not then you may soon be a world of hurt.

Thanks for the reply @Lord Xeb

It could be my crappy Highpoint rocket raid card and I wouldn't be too surprised if it was.

Right now I am using a very low end setup, San digital enclosures with a Highpoint Rocket Raid 642L raid card.

I've decided to bite the bullet and spend the money on a synology NAS, and have also replaced the drive.. something I've actually wanted to do from the very beginning.

I do not have a backup but I just got 4, 4tb NAS drives today from amazon and im going to make a complete back up when my NAS arrives and also my additional back up to my cloud storage.

I will copy the data from the drive via sata on my motherboard rather than the potential culprit raid card

Thanks for the information I appreciate it greatly. thumb.gif

No problem. Hopefully everything comes off the drive fine.
